Yep, that's right, the "why are my fan leaves (approx. 3 weeks left in flowering) turning bright yellow?" The entire leaves, not spots.

Set-up
--------

2 gallon bucket, 60% perlite / 40% Happy Frog soil (approx.)

Water with Big Bloom and Molasses, weighed out to what the back of the Bloom bottle measurements say to offer. Water every two days (semi-flush) and flush every 10 days (pure water).

Strain is Sour Grapes

The plant has looked great, until just recently. The yellowing came on fast. Any suggestions? I don't have any pics. Will try to snap some off tomorrow. But I wanted to ask this immediately.

its normal old leaves turn yellow when they are used up and will fall off it actually from lack of n2 but will happen anyway. but if you bloom nutes have n2 in them it may slow it down some.but don't worry.

may i ask where you got that sour grapes strain from? sounds yummy.. was it from seed or clone only? i have a feeling its a clone only, but it doesn't hurt to ask.. and ya, the yellowing comes from lack of nitrogen in bloom nutes, thats why i always try and add a lil veg nutes during the last few weeks or growth to help out with the yellowing some..

I have the same thing going on. I,m 13 or 14 days into flower. It started last week and I was freeked out. New growth looks fine and flowers are developing nicely though. After reading and hangin out here for a few days I've mellowed into it. Think the girls will be fine.

Yes, clones. I have no idea if there are seeds available for Sour Grapes.

Here are a few pics. I know, I'm using florescent lighting. Dont' beat me up over it, I knew what to expect regarding yield! This is essentially an experiment. One that clearly got me some nugs, but obviously not the higher yield from using more powerful light. I'm setting up the new hydro table as we speak. In the meantime, I know this not the optimal lighting, so play nice! lol

Shame to let that plant die like it is, buds could be so much better if folks didn't spread the forum lies/myths

It is true that it is normal outside in mother nature for the plant to die towards the end,,,but not indoors where your garden is supposed to be near perfect conditions

Your plant wants N feed it a dose of veg nutes !!!

It is those leaves that make big buds and once they die off well the plant is done those will be the buds you get

Funny but if you keep it green and healthy those buds just keep growin :bigjoint:

Hey bro smart move heeding RiddleMe's advice for sure. I am posting on this because I noticed you said you use Botanicare Nutes. Note sure if you are on the pure blend pro, but I experienced the same yellowing issue you had when I switched over to the bloom nutes too quickly. I wont touch the bloom nutes now until I see the majority of buds have begun to form on the plant, but havent really taken off yet. (so anywhere between 2-3 weeks into the 12/12 light cycle usually) After doing this I stopped receiving so many yellow leaves at such an early stage of the plants life still. Just passing on my experience, hope it helps. :)

The leaves have looked great, up until about a week ago (or so). Eight weeks hits n 4/2. The trichomes are looking partially cloudy now. We'll see how it ends. Looking good so far, except for the recent yellowing. Oh, and I've had 3 or 4 fan leaves fall off as well. I'll try to get it turned around. How long, after adding some veggie nutes, should I expect before I see a difference? Or am I too late now?

will take 4 to 6 days and the ones that have died are gone they will not come back, what you will see is the yellowing stop, new growth will be a bit greener as well

Dexter - This is a time when foliar spray is your friend. Yes it is not necessary, but it will provide the much needed nutrients to those leaves a bit sooner. It wont fix them overnight, nor will it give them all what they need like the roots will, but the foliar spray will help get things going. Botanicare veg botle should have instructions on back for foliar spray...i think its around a teaspoon per quart or something if you are interested. Either way, good luck, will be interested to hear how things go for you within the next week.

And I planned on flushing out, starting at week 7 ,until they are done. Is that about right? Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated.

Try not to get caught up in the whole week 7 do this week 8 do that thing because honestly its going to vary depending up strain, environment, medium, etc.

I cant remember if you are doing hydro or not while writing this but if you are then you should have seen results within 48 hrs. You aren't going to ressurect any leaves that are fargone.. might see some yellow ones get a little green back, but what is most important is that the yellowing stops progressing up the plant and all new growth should be a good lush green.

You can go half veg and half bloom nutes if you want. Stick with veg until all of your flowers have set in and all of your leaf growth has returned to normal...then try going half and half for awhile...then full bloom once your buds have gotten to medium size or so..

Flushing..its recommended to do this two weeks prior to your harvest..so if the buds look like they are going to be ready in two weeks, then flush..but dont depend on the exact week of growth you are in.

Again, check out my grow journal if you want more info on the feeding, you will see i post weeks there though, but again that VARIES per strain..think of it like this instead

veg feed until all bud sites have formed

bloom feed with hydro nutes until buds are nearly full in size

bloom feed with soil nutes last 2-3 weeks before you are going to flush

plenty will agree, plenty will disagree, gotta do what you see your plants responding to best in the end.

Yes, helps a lot!

I'm doing soil.

The trichomes look like some are cloudy and some are still clear. My understanding is that once all of the trichomes are cloudy, then flush and wait for it to finish. Correct?

I am learning patience, that is for sure! I'm planning on making this my last soil grow. My ebb n flow system is all ready, so my next set of clones are growing up as we speak. I'll probably put them in the new set-up in the next week or two. But for now, finish this Sour Grapes in my soil! Yeehaa!
