I most definitely appreciate all the input for sure. I know this is a big community of veterans and thats why I'm here. I'm only going to get better as I go. Don't think for a second if I end up chopping her down to early that I wouldn't get right back on here and admit I was wrong. I'm just a little conflicted as to why it would need up to 6 more weeks than what's listed for the genetics themselves from the source I got them from online. Wouldn't leave you a little puzzled?

Nope a plant is done when it's done. I've never given much to breeder times. Everything and everyone is different. Breeders for the most part shave time alot to make things more appealing to the end consumer. Especially less then reputable breeders.

I got them from ilgm. As far as I know its pretty reputable source for genetics. What would be the point of buying auto flowers if i could just grow photoperiod plants in the same amount of time as an autoflower?

Because people have this misconception that they're faster.

my breeder times said 8-10 weeks on northern lights and went 14 weeks to hit prime picking time

I'm going to do a little test. I have two plants. Both the same age. I'll chop one down two weeks earlier than the other and cure them both and see which is better

Here’s the deal.

when plants produce seeds not all seeds are created equal.

meaning you get different genetic traits from within its lineage.

now breeders when quoting harvest times and grams per meter square etc take their highest performing phenotype they’ve found in their own trials.

so when they say strain X flowers in 8 weeks they mean the quickest they’ve seen their strain flower is 8 weeks and they count from the onset of flower formation not from switching lights to 12/12.

when they quote the grams per meter square that’s from its highest yielding phenotype.

the highest yielding phenotype and the quickest finishing phenotype are most likely not the same phenotype within that strain.

in layman's terms

your Mum and dad Reproduce.

they have 3 girls and 4 boys.

do all 3 girls and 4 boys look the same? No.

Do they have some similar characteristics of the parents. Yes.

similar with plants grown for seeds. Not all seeds will produce or grow the exact same as the previous seed.

should be getting at least closer to 3 ounces per plant. If I only got one ounce per plant. I would just buy from local dispensary

Its hard for me to tell how much exactly. I know the younger plants are going to yield at least that much. They're looking much better than the first two at that age. Unfortunately I don't live in a state with a local dispensary haha. I'm not trying to mass produce a perfect commercial product. Its just for personal use. And the last stuff i grew was better than most stuff I can get where I live. I'm not a big fan of a couch lock type of stoned either. I live the cerebral type of stoned that makes you have to get up and do something functional lol

Also ilgm says the plant should produce around 2oz in optimal conditions. So if I get around that much I consider it a success

Last harvest i got an avg of 3/4 lbs and that was with the ac having issues and a host of shot happening in the room.

I would say its not perfect but in general, no. However its never too humid or arid around where I live and its never too hot,or too cold. I hope I'm wrong and that it needs more time and will produce more. I've said it multiple times that I'm not going to chop em down if they aren't ready. As anxious as I seem right now just to chop it down I'm still not going to harvest early by any means. I'm just ready now haha
