Almost Harvest time...

Ok guys so i read about a hundred threads about how to dry and cure.
I think I got the basics down, but need some clarification.
So this is about the most of it, right?

1- Cut down at soil

2-Trim all fan leaves w/ stems

3- Hang upside down in dark, cool (60-70degrees F), and humidity around 50-70, with good air circulation.

4-Leave dry 5-15 days untill stems snap and not bend.

5- Place a thin layer of buds in paper bags for 14-21 days, checking daily for mold issues or moisture issues.

6- Put buds in mason jars, not too tight, and open for 10-20 minutes daily. and repeat this untill its gone.

my question is, is while they are in jars does the light still effect them like it does during drying? Or does it have to be dark then too?

1- Cut down at soil Dont need to go down that far

2-Trim all fan leaves w/ stems trim all leaves as close to the bud as possible

3- Hang upside down in dark, cool (60-70degrees F), and humidity around 50-70, with good air circulation. Maybe a bit lower with the temps and humidity but that should work. A fan will help..not blowing on the buds

4-Leave dry 5-15 days untill stems snap and not bend. 5 days will most likely do the trick

5- Place a thin layer of buds in paper bags for 14-21 days, checking daily for mold issues or moisture issues. Maybe 3 days in the paper bag

6- Put buds in mason jars, not too tight, and open for 10-20 minutes daily. and repeat this untill its gone. Open every day for a week, every other day for the next week, twice for the third week, let sit for a week then discover the results :hump:

my question is, is while they are in jars does the light still effect them like it does during drying? Or does it have to be dark then too?
Keep them in the dark and cool throughout

Thanks Boneman!
So cutting right below the lowest branch is cool?
I can cut all leaf matter completly off when i cut the plant down?
What would you reccomend with the temps and humidity?
The rest is cool, it puts drying alot faster than i thought.
Thanks for your help!

I hate manicuring semi-dried leaves.. it's a pain in the ass.

Before I chop, i cut off all the fan leaves on the entire plant, take a branchy cut, and trim up each bud's leaves to a nice christmas tree shape, and hang up the cut. Repeat.

Thanks man, makes sense.

Your 1-6 list looks good. One thing I've read and learned first hand is there will be buds maturing at different rates. Some will be done before others. You can cut these as they become "done". Use a pocket-scope to view the trichs (available at Radio Shack) and harvest buds that have about 10-15% amber vs clear trichs. If you wait and cut the whole plant down, you've gone "past" the peak of some of the buds. If I'm wrong with this thinking,.. someone please advise.

no you are mostly right, i chopped the whole thing, cuz i wanted different highs. Thats one to do it if you don't know what the differences are.

WOW!!!! Boneman your curing process is like exactly the same as I use. I keep my temps 55-65*, and my humidity 45-50% while drying. ++rep brah!

To the OP: I hope you chopped before the lights came on after the dark period. Boneman is right on with the hang dry, paper bag dry, and cure times as well. I do the same dry (except no paper bag), and cure as he said, and I have great success...but my personal stash I keep sealed up for 3+ months after the 4th week burp, and they smoke sooooo smooth. The longer you keep them from fresh O2 the longer they will stay fresh, and the better, and better the smoke, and aroma/taste will get.
