Almost Harvest Time, Variety of Strains, My best at Budporn

Ok here's some budporn for ya. These 4 plants are being grown outdoors, and it's almost time for pickin'. Sit back and enjoy. This is my 3rd grow, first outdoors. I'm not very good with the camera so bear with me!

First up is some Kandy Kush x Skunk #1. These were some freebie seeds from Attitude. I germed 3, gave one plant to a buddy, and another one turned out to be male (from a feminized seed). I tied it down only two times just to keep it kinda short.

Next up we have a DNA LA Woman. Smells funky and looks ok.

Third plant is a gem. It is a Barney's Farm Lemon Skunk Diesel, or LSD. I had 3 feminzed seed, but only one germed...so I was already pretty bummed with this plant from the get go. I am semi-guerilla growing and went to check on this bad boy one day back in summer. It was about 24 inches tall, and the stem rotted at the ground and the plant fell over. Luckily I cought it in time and tried to clone her. Well, I have never cloned before and didn't really have the right supplies/set-up to make clones. I did have jiffy pellets and a humidity dome though, pretty much your bare neccessities. I think I took somewhere around 15 clones and ONLY ONE SURVIVED, haha! Well, she turned out to be a beauty, compared to what she went through and is packed full of dense tight nuggets. I never tied her down, I went on vacation after planting the clone and when i returned it had stretched so much towards the sun that I just let it go. I can't wait to smoke this baby!

Barney's Farm LSD

And last but not least, my Barney's Farm Blue Cheese. I tied this plant down twice, and it produced 6 main colas for me. She is almost ready and smells delightful! This plant is nice and short but has tight, fat nugs....I will definitely grow this plant again for how short it stays...guerilla style!

All plants were grown in Fox Farm Ocean Forest. I nuted them every now and then with FF Grow Big, and with FF Big Bloom, but not Tiger Bloom. For my Bloom nutes I used Botanicare Pure Blend Pro Bloom. I never had them on a strict nute regiment. I think I only hit them with the Bloom nutes maybe 2-3 times. I watered weekly and bi-weekly during period of summer we had NO rain. I have started flushing already. The LSD still has the greenest leaves ever, it looks so healthy. Too bad only one of my 3 seeds germed or I would have 2 more of these bad asses all tied down and going crazy! The Blue Cheese has been a dream to grow, really responds well to LST training. The DNA LA Woman was a freebie seed, and I am glad I didn;t pay for it....not a big producer (of course, I am still new to this). The Kandy Kush X Skunk #1 will be the last to harvest, still has crazy white pistils and is really fattening up, but doesn;t have that 'frosty look' quite yet.

Thanks for reading!

Thanks! I really got lucky with the Blue Cheese. I never LST'd before. All I did was tie down the top of the plant 2 times, and she did the rest. If I like the smoke, I will DEFINITELY grow it next year. I love how it stays short with no training, but with a little bit of training will stay even shorter and explode with some colas. What are some other strains with these characteristics?

When I tied down the Blue Cheese, I tied the top down toward the East. Maybe that is why the top has the smallest colas, because of the way the sun sets, haha....I have no idea!

Ha, yea that's why I think it's silly giving the "technique" a name. It's just called tying down a plant where I come from. All you need to do is tie it and the plant does the rest. I always like to do this with Sativas outdoors so the canopy opens up and lower stuff gets sunlight, since sativas get tall and lankier. . I mean, pretty much any strain you do this with will get the same type of results. It's just a way you can get the most out of the surface area on a plant.

agreed, though i find that LST (tying down =P) often is best coupled with topping for a nice open canopy with multiple colas, while also increasing popcorn and mids sizes.

got a shit load of bud sites and colas on a sativa(no ties), most of the leaves are dead from the bottom up(inner canopy), buds and branches are alive, (i think its due to a magnesium or calcium problem), but i watered with epsom and it didnt remedy it.. yet. Almost all the buds are getting a great amount of light due to that as well as the sunshine lol.
