I've been wanting to run their stuff since I saw frenchy do a hash run with their Pinot Noir. Can't wait to see how these flower out.

Edit: My bad I was thinking Cannabis Aficionado
Haha, yeah this will be my first time running BB gear, but have heard great things and their site is awesome, very informational. Plus they sent me a decent amount of freebies of two other strains. Not sure when those will be started.

God damn ADT looking killer dude.

WHat's your verdict on these new cobs? They get nice dense buds close to the HPS or what? I'm thinking of ordering my Vero parts tonight and getting this build crackin.

I'm thinking 200 watts of Vero 29's at 1.4 amps should be comparable to a 400 watt HPS if I'm reading the charts right :)

Thanks man!

The COB fixture I got runnin next to the 600 is defiantly giving the 600 a run for its money, but the fixture I'm running isn't near the same so the 600 does produce overall bigger buds, but density is the exact same.

The COB fixture I'm runnin in flower is a cheap one I got on amazon. An Apollo Purple Sun, think it draws only 180 actual watts, so not really in the same ballpark of a 600w HPS, but like I said, density is the same and the temp difference is insane.

I just built my first set of COB fixtures with some Vero 13s for veg. I have 4 of them on two heatsinks, 300mA, 20w each fixture, 40w total. Replaced my two 100w T5 fixtures, that ran 200w total, and threw out a ton of heat. The COB fixtures literally have no heat.

I want to replace my bough COB fixture and my 600 with all vero cobs eventually.

I don't understand the LEDs very well still but I'm starting to get an idea. I know they work lol

What kind of budget is required to build one of those units? I was looking at some LEDs the other day and even on CL they are like $700 minimum. I have a 600 HPS right now and once summer hits my temps are going to sore just like last year. So it's either buy a chiller or switch to LED. I don't have the option for A/C where I am right now. Room faces a main walkway and we aren't allowed to put anything in the windows.

Cost I would consider low, much lower then buying a built unit of course. The thing that sold me was I could make the lights to fit my odd space.

For my two fixtures I made for veg cost me around 125 to 150$. But this also includes a lot of materials I will use in future builds like extra wiring, kapton tape, thermal compound, wago connectors, ect.

One fixture runs on a single 1 to 18w+ 300mA driver, and powers two vero 13s in series. The lights and driver were mounted on a 20" long 2.079" wide heatsink, not requiring extra cooling. Actual watts drawn from a single fixture is around 20 to 21w.

When it comes to LEDs and COBs it's not as much about watts then another rating figured from data sheets from the Veros themselves and the drivers capability. It's called PPFD, something like proton count per Sq ft or something, hard for me to understand still.

But my fixtures run 60ppfd each right now, so 120 total for my space, which is on the lower end for veg. Max for flowering is around 1500ppfd.

Like I said I don't completely understand all the numbers yet, learning as I go, but I know they work and do great in flower and veg, I feel like I'm just scraping at the surface lol

Optic sells their lamps for about double what you could DIY a lamp for.

I'm building a light similar to their 2 COB Vero 29 unit they sell for 499.99 right now it's looking like it's going to run me about $250 CAD, and the Canadian dollar is absolutely shit right now. They say it's going down to .75$ USD so I guess I might as well order cause it's not getting better :)

I imagine if you really shopped around you could do it for 200 USD for a 200 watt unit.

Hey ADT! How's it goin'?

I'm very glad you climbed aboard the COB led train! I myself am in the process of boarding =P

Just got my 4 vero 29 today, and can't wait to get my drivers and fans! Rock n' Roll!

Your garden is looking lush as always =) Good stuff

Would that be 1000 watt HPS equivalent? I have almost zero knowledge when it comes to these.

I'm pretty new to it all myself. I'm not sure what it would cost for a 1000watt comparable unit. There's a few good LED Threads in the indoor growing LED section.

That unit would be comparable to a 400watt hps I think.

Quick pic update.

I have two big girls, both 8ball kush, in 10g pots under a 6' by 2' screen. One is more centered under my 600w HPS, the other more centered under the Purple Sun 386w COB LED panel, actual draw is around 180 to 190w.

The plant underneath the LED clearly looks healthier, buds look larger. The Plat under the HPS seems more burnt and stretched, health doesn't look as good, buds look smaller.

Pretty amazed with the results, in the process of making a full COB led fixture to replace both the 600w HPS and purple sun led because of the results.

Just got one quick picture for now. A close up of one of the buds under the LED side. Don't know exact week, I'm thinkin 5 to 6 weeks, depending on if when I think I flipped is correct.

Well I don't have a pic, I'll get one here and post up. 8Ball kush is coming down any day now. I took a tester bud a let it dry for 3 to 4 days and tried it out this morning. Seems done to me. Starting to see some amber trichs so it's time.

Also I order all of my light parts this week, so my next grow will no longer be using the purple sun panel and the 600w hps. I'll be replacing them with one 400w COB LED panel that I'll be making. Looking at half the electricity and a higher yield.

New strains, new lights. Good things around these parts!

I think this girl is ready, the other under the HPS isn't finishing as quickly. One other thing I noticed under these COB LEDs, my girls seem to finish faster under the COBs compared to the HPS.

Guess I have to start trimming! Ugh I hate trimming, this round seems like it'll be easier though.

Next part of my new light build came yesterday. 8x Cree CXB3070 ADs.

Now I am just waiting on the drivers to come and I'll be good to go to get this thing built and setup.
