Would you consider buying a VERO after reading through some of the posts?

At Vero 29's current nominal power draw, and 155 LPW which is the advertised improvement (I think) we arrive at 12245 lumens (79w x 155lpw). The current CXB3590 top bin warm white is 150 LPW. The 3500K CXB 3590 DB will output around 13670 lumens running at 87 watts, or 157 LPW. Vero is looking very good price/performance wise.

There's also the fact that Bridgelux used the words 180LPW nominal and warm white all in the same sentence. Here's the bit: "its seventh generation of Vero and V Series products now featuring nominal efficacy ranging from 155 to 180 lumens per watt warm white efficacy" I don't quite know what to make of that, but it does seem to suggest one of the two products have at least one model that will feature... 180 LPW nominal warm white, or am I reading that wrong?

155-157 nominal is a nominal improvement. 180 would be pretty major IMO.
The language of their announcement sounds very intriguing indeed. But their actual performance, as will be tested by some of the "sharp pencils" here, will likely exceed even the printed performance! I can't wait! The Cree-tans better be ready to call the Wambulance!
 
I think so too, ive read so much and only after I bought some vero 29s did I find this. Although I think I may be overkilling it a bit I am now convinced that the veros were the way to go. Got seeds going in tomorrow :)

I bought two Vero 29 v2 4000Ks for my LED build (my first light build, period). I'm trying to figure out their output in PPF so I can figure out how large of a grow box to build to hit a target PPFD and DLI.

Per data sheets posted by Supra and Alesh, @1400 mA and 50 degrees Celsius each Vero 29 draws:
36.4 V
50.96 dissW

And produces:
7245 lumens
142.16 lm/W
43.88% efficiency
4.62 QER

Someone please tell me if my math is correct or incorrect:
50.96 dissWatts X 43.88% efficiency = 22.36 PAR Watts.

22.36 PAR Watts X 4.62 umol/J (QER) = 103.3 PPF

OK...my 2 cents worth. You have 45 PAR watts with both cobs. I have found my build at 15 PAR watts a square foot works great. Some build for up to 20 or so. I am on my third grow with the 15 PAR watts a foot and if I get to close now I begin to bleach leaves. So I think you could build for at least 3 square feet with what you have and not be disappointed...maybe even 4 square feet if you managed your canopy and had some reflective walls.

And I also run Vero 29s V2 at about 800ish ma 3500K and 1 every square foot with no reflectors...just saying.

Can anyone recommend a vero 29 setup for a 2x2x3' veg tent?
I would go 2x 5000k Vero 29's at maybe 700mA-1000ma apiece...which 25- 40 watts apiece...

i use a similar sized cab, but only 3.5 sq. ft. and I am actually only using 4x Vero 10's @ 300ma...which vegs 6 plants in 1-2 gals pots.
5k is my favorite veg spectrum, but 4k is nice too, in fact I have a mix of 4k/5k for veg. :peace:

What driver are you using for this build?

@Abiqua what cri in 5000K are you using
I have been using 2x vero 29 5000k 70cri
Just replaced one of them with vero 29 5600k 90 cri
I believe the 5k are just 70k :) but they are V1 too, so can't quite remember they have been running for while now, lol.....

I would love to try out some of those 5600K cri...I need to be on the lookout...

Personally I my grows lean towards as much selection as possible...I never run the same cut in the same run, so I like the ability of flowering with different K temps and I am enjoying the results, but I think I enjoy the same K temps for vegging as well!

I am diving further into 3500/4k as a Sativa veg spectrum......always need more narrowleaf testing varities though :)

I have found 1 cut only that responds similarly under different veg K temps and flower K temps...out of 8 varieties I have been running 7 seem to all lean towards a certain spectrum and disdain others....but all very preliminary even after a year + of watching the process...:peace:

Cool, that's more than the 155 figure. Nominal wattage has gone up too. Very intriguing.
The 155lm/W is 3000K 80cri, 161lm/w for the 3500K 80cri, 164lm/w for the 4000K 80cri, 178lm/w for 5000K 70cri and 180lm/w is 6500K 70cr, this is all at nominal current.

This is al from the preliminary sheets.

I was looking at the specs on vero 13 on digikey and I saw two different ones with different temperatures at test in the specifications.
This one heats up to 85*c:

I need them for a non cannabis light with passive cooling. I'm looking at the vero 13 that heats up to 25*. Besides its voltage forward being a little higher is there anything else that I might be missing?
