All my clones died:(

Hi guys,

So my Critical kush is 3 weeks old and I decided to top her and then top the node underneath again too make a total of two clones. I put them into pH adjusted rockwool (pH:5.5/24H) after dipping them in rooting hormone. I then chopped the leaves in half.
Put them in my tent @82F misted them and 5 hours I came back they are wilting with the larger leaves curled up and crispy...

too much heat?

Plant too young to clone (it had 4 nodes)?

I just want to know what I did wrong so I dont do it again...

thanks peeps:)

Clones have light 24hours usually so how would the lights not be on?

I spray mine with the lights on, no problems at all. I have never trimmed any leaves though, nor taken from such a young plant

Well a couple of things just in my honest opinion and based on a little experience.. I've had I've had better success rates with the room temp being in the lower to mid 70's as opposed to 80 and higher using the rock wool method in a humididome and heat mat. But I think it may have been that you cut clones just a bit early. I've done this once before in the past with no success from taking cuttings from a young plant. I usually veg out at least 5-6 weeks before I clip anything.what I do suggest is an EZ-cloner or something equivalent as you can clone basically any size clipping and they will root 100%.

So you left 2 nodes on the original 3 weeks from seed plant? How's it doing?
The original plant is looking great. Plants enjoy being topped...they look even better the next day. The remaining nodes have moved in where the "top" was and have now become new tops. I will top her again to make more clones and increase the number of cola's.

The two clones have come back to life! I moved them to the corner of the room, away from the lights, now they seem to be "cloning".

I will post an update in 10 days to tell you if they rooted.

Congrats, I've killed a few clones with too much light, didn't realize that's what did it until a while later. I hope they recover and thrive.

worst luck i have with cloning any type of plant is when the branch is less than 6 inches and or woody in the stem.

the fastest cloning plants ive seen come from revegging mothers. like, it flowered in spring, i didnt kill it and only harvested the buds, it recognized the light schedule was increasing towards summer and pushed out nice long vegetative branches by the tens. pretty vigorous stuff there

I agree woody stems are terrible, for all types of cuttings. I want to clone my Vinca plants, they are such pretty flowers.
