True. I prefer Lutron Radio RA2 for switches, a local platform for Z-wave/Zigbee devices, and Node-Red for the actual automation control. With or without internet my house runs 99% automated. Certainly frees up my time to focus on other things.

I am playing around with OpenHAB at the moment for that off grid experience.

You're just talking about lights? haha lol You will be shocked to know what my alexa did yesterday night. in the mid night we were sleeping and my alexa randomly beeps at night i was really shocked what happened with alexa and there was nothing it started beeping randomly. this is an amazon product haha it can do anything he want
