See when you set out to make a new drug you have a target structure and you explore every similar structure you can to find the one that works best. It's like starting a lot of seeds to find a mom. The 25 in the name LSD-25 means it was probably the 25th drug in a similar series. It just happened to be the magical configuration. They didn't start exploring the activity of the analogues until after the activity of LSD was discovered which wasn't until 5 years after it had first been synthesized.

I want number one through 25! Ill mix and match,and eventually take all 25 at once!..lol,you'll get a laugh here duck..I had some 'brainiac' who knows everything try to tell me lsd-25 was named cause the ergot has to be extracted 25 times..whatever that means..I'm no chemist but I have a little knowledge..that statement had me rolling on the floor with laughter! Probably was the gel tabs I was on at that particular moment.
