Airport Security, clean your shoes !!!

My friend back east set off an alarm at a major airport recently. During the following questioning they asked her if she had a garden at home. why yes i have flowers all around my house she said. Apparently the Ocean Forest soil on her shoes set off an alarm. No big deal, they sent her on her way. MORAL of the story, CLEAN YOUR SHOES !!! Man i laughed so hard when i heard this story ! But, just goes to show you really can't be to careful out there . And airport security has improved, somewhat

what kind of alarm does soil set off?

I remember reading somewhere ferts and soils are slightly radioactive. I'm gonna guess this is the reason.

I could see maybe someone getting busted because a dog smelled like pollen or something on their shoes... but soil? I find that hard to believe...

Either that, or that's some high-tech airport security system...

The explosives detectors used by TSA are very sensitive and may be alarming on what they mistake (?) as ammonium nitrate.
But that is speculation on my part.

I can see it possable with the fertalizer and your not going to wipe it off your shoes

I join you in your speculation. TSA has sniffer wands now that they can sample the air around them with. Ammonium nitrate would be one thing they could look for to make sure you don't have a truck bomb hidden under your skirt!

I gotta remember to shut off my web cam - didn't realize you could see my skirt.

i was immediatly thinking ammonium nitrate also....they have some high tech equiptment at the airport...i don't doubt the story one bit.

Hey i'm back. I kept the story short on purpose, and did leave out some details. TSA did say that they have found that similar situation, fert res. on shoes. Millions of people have gardens, look at all the garden shows on tv. Just more crap for TSA to sort through. Oh and yes my friend has a grow, and flowers all around her house.
