aircon watts to btu

I have 2000 watts of led lighting running in a 10 x 10 insulated sealed room , online calculators say that is 6824 BTUs

My question is do I need at least the same capacity aircon 2000 watts to keep the room at the right temperature, I have a 1600 watt window aircon installed and its not working properly seems to cycle the compressor too much and is not cooling the room enough I think its faulty, should the compressor stay on until set temp is reached? maybe if the compressor stayed on longer the room would cool enough which makes me think it's faulty.

I have another 1600 watt spare aircon same model which Im going to just plug in on a bench and see if the compressor turns off like the one installed, I can swap these out which is probably the easiest solution, or do I need to go up to say a 2700 watt window aircon which means I need to cut a bigger hole and fit which is a pain in the ass


Just ran the spare for over an hour on the bench and the compressor never turned off, so Id the say the one installed is faulty will swap them and see if it can handle it.

what is the air temperature going into the a/c and what is the air temperature coming out?

The room is 32 celsius inside lights on, I have the gate-vent on the aircon closed so it recycles only the air inside the room as it is sealed with Co2 gas, the rear in the other room of the aircon is 40 Celsius, I have it set to get the room down to 27c but it cant get under 30 as the compressor turns off and then some time later will turn on again but by then the room is back to hot again, when the compressor is running cold air comes out.

Ok swapped out the units and it seems to be doing the job while turned down, the other one was faulty it was full cold settings and couldn't do it.

You need an air conditioner rated to cool 8000btu, wattage is gonna vary by brand and newness. To figure out wattage multiply volts x amps.
I have a 15000btu ac in a room with 1500w of light. My window AC tops out power consumption at 1250w and the mf is big. If your ac is 12000w it’s probably 12-15k btu and more than enough for your lighting.

The window aircon I have is only 1600 watt maximum cooling, its small 450-millimetre square about 18inch I can pick it up and poke it in the hole above my head, yesterday it was 30 celsius outside and inside the room with lights on the aircon easily kept the room at 26 celsius, enough so that its set on med-cool and the thermostat was on 4 it can go to 10, it seems underpowered by the numbers but is doing it easy, I think being a sealed insulated room and the aircon recycling the air not exchanging air makes it work, I have 2000 watts LED and humidifier which creates heat keeping the room at 65% humidity.

Time will tell as we get deep into summer if it can cope.
