Do I have to have an air stone in a 5 gallon bucket setup with drip ring like G.H. waterfarm has? I don't have one. Just wondering if I will be ok without it. I think I would also have to get a new pump because my pump on has 1 nipple. Or is there a way to split that into 2? Im kind of a newbe at hydro

No but it's strongly recommended. Water falling back to the Rez will aerate the solution. The more agitation the better in my opinion.

I agree, put a sone in there if you can. If you need one, you can buy an air line T or multi port manifold to split up your single output pump where they sell fish supplies.

With that said, is the drip line even nessesary? I was considering using the g.h watefarm for my first hydro grow and then i learned how to make a DWC with the 5 gallon Lowes bucket, a pump, and mesh pot/bucket lid on youtube. I could save like 30 bucks "doin it myself". Also does a larger mesh pot = a larger plant?

DIY is the cheapest and most fun route in this game. But generally it's a no on the netpot size influencing plant size. The bigger the root mass the bigger the plant. There are guys on this forum that pull monster plants from 2 inch net pots with no media.

i use 5 gallon buckets with the 5 gallon net pot and i usually get about 2-4 oz from each plant. they veg until there 12-16 inches then i flip them to flower.. they end up to be about 24-36 inches tall and depending on me and my care i get 2-4 oz's from each plant.. its all on the roots.. if they have room to grow so will your plant..

I use a top drip system for my veg room. The more air the better. Each one of my buckets gets its own stone plus a couple in the rez

I use a 25 gallon rope tote and harvest ~450-600 grams dried. But that also includes a 600 watt light, longer veg time, etc
