Hey buds went to turn lights off in my flower room and i realised my air pump wasnt working and when i had a look it was leaking water how is this possible as its an air pump not a water pump, its an Hailea aco 9620 4 outlet pump which i use with 4 airstones 3 of which go to 3 Separate 21L dwc buckets and the 4th goes in the res for my nft the airpump is 13 days old so surely cant be faulty or is this airpump not powerful enough to power all them things as i will need to buy new 1 and don't want to make same mistake again ...........thanks

If your pump stops and it is sitting below water level it will back feed water through the air lines. I keep mine all up top.

You can try it just let it dry out. I had an aquarium pump that shook it self off the shelf and back fed, it unplugged also. I took the cover off it and let it sit overnight then it worked the next day.

In my area, all fish air pumps come with a check valve. I think it is a government safety requirement, or buy separately or keep the pump a few feet above the water line. Air hose is cheap. If above and the pump stops, water could collect in the lower line but will be blow out when the pump comes back on. No harm putting two check valves in just in case one fails...Never seen that but for a dollar extra, why not?
