I get around 1g/w (sometimes just above and sometimes just below) with a 600 in a 4x4, using a cheap 80$ cool-tube and a cheap 100$ tent (that actually glows, when the light is on). Can't remember the forum, but a guy did testing with a light meter on a wide range of hoods and found that the average cool-tube loses some lumens. I think is was like 3% or something, not 10-15%. Stop reading someones bs that they didn't even test. My advice is to try it out. If you aren't getting as much yield as you're expecting, then try something else. I also only use crappy dry nutrients, nothing special. Peace!!
Well put Shag...I agree as well...HE obviously is interested in getting a cool tube and people are quick to sh*t on his plans. Life is about trial and error. Give it a try...If it is not for you, switch it up. Different strokes for different folks. For me it is working...temps are controllable in my tent which is the reason i got one in the first place. i don't have a window to vent out of where my tent is so i can 't get the carbon filter...so cool tube and ona block is the only other way to go without burning up your plants. After my first harvest using this cool tube hood, i'll determine how much weight is lost because of the glass by comparing to my other grows... I'll never know if i don't try...

Hey bigL you say that you don't vent out a window,I was wondering how do you control temps in your tent
Before i got the cool tube i couldnt...I had temps sometimes over 100! normal temps were around 95...Now that i have the cool tube, temps are normally around 85....lowest ive seen was 81...so i'm pretty happy with those temps without ventilation...
