Air cooled glass on or glass off? help me decide using VPD and temp data

Hey there,

I could use some help in deciding what to do - I have an air cooled 600 watt lamp in a tent with some plants going into week 3 flowering.

RH with the glass on was about 70% at 68F/20C which is almost ideal VPD. Its gotten cold here now and will be getting colder - temp here dropped to 17C/ 63F degrees in the tent with the lamp on a few nights back.

I took the glass off and temp went up to 27 degrees at 30-35% RH, so VPD Is well off where it should be.

My options are to leave the glass off with low RH, or else put the glass back on and get an inkbird temp controller to power a radiator which should keep the room temps above 20C/ 68F.

Any opinions/ experience would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I can't help you with the heat, but another factor to consider is that you'll loose light with the glass. I've read 10% loss.

Yeah I've read that quality goes up aswell as yield if you take the glass off. Its amazing the difference with the glass off; you can really feel it.

I've decided to go with glass off. 35% w/ 27 degrees seems close to ideal.

The glass off definetely increases yield, Ive run a 600mh/hps setup for years, but personally I find I can have the light ALOT closer to the plants without any heat stress and keep my space alot cooler when I run the hood with glass hooked right to a small exhaust booster fan.

Sounds like your temps without the glass are much more manageable than mine though, I would be 30 degress or higher with glass removed
