Air Conditioner Air Out Question

I just added an air conditioner to my room, the free standing style. Love it! However I just thought about something...

I have the exhaust going up and out through a vent in my roof, which sounds like a great idea, except something just occurred to me... what about the smell?! The AC is taking in air from the room and exhausting the hot air out, but this is unfiltered air. So basically it's going to be blasting nice stinky air out once I'm into flowering. This is not going to work, I have some stinky strains... And nosey neighbors.

So what type of air conditioners are you guys using that don't need to exhaust air out? Or how are you dealing with this?

I don't mind buying a new AC unit since I wanted one for my bedroom anyway, but I can't afford to buy one of those $800-900 split style at the moment. Are those the only option for not having to vent out? How exactly do those work? They look like they have a small unit that has to be outside the house... Could this other piece be in the garage instead of outside the house? How far away from the AC unit can it be?

I can't really exhaust into another room and then pull that out through a filter, which might work, but I just can't do that ATM. but some creative solutions/ideas to get me through the next cycle or two would be great! Maybe an ozone generator in the duct before it goes out? Would the temp inside the duct from the AC unit be a concern for the ozone generator?

Any ideas, AC unit recommendations?

Thanks!

dual hose-

the condenser doesn't use room air. separate hose for air in. air in, air out. sealed circuit.

I was wondering if those were completely sealed. Sweet, thanks man.

Edit:
Hey do you happen to know what brand and model is a truly sealed unit? All the dual hose designs I've found so far aren't truly sealed after reading the reviews. I'm sure they're out there I just haven't found one yet.

In case anyone reading this thread is interested in finding a sealed system ac unit... I have not been able to find a totally sealed system. I thought I had found one and called the sales dept for sunpentown to make sure. All their 2 hose AC units will draw air from the room through a back up vent if the unit isn't getting enough air from the intake hose.

Same with models I found by Haier, and royal sovereign.

I suppose an option would be to cover that back up vent and make sure the unit can't use that to pull air from the room, but then you risk overheating your AC unit... maybe if the unit isn't pushed to hard, and kept on low-medium the unit would get enough air through the intake duct.

Anyone know of a totally sealed dual hose AC unit? Anyone using a dual hose system?

I'll do some more research and post again when I find out more.. in case anyone is interested.

Ok All air conditioners create heat some how and that heat has to go someplace........ Also if your running an Airconditioner i hope you have a dedicated fan for your lights because if your just exhausting your room the entire time the light is on then you are wasting energy on the A/C if the AC is on you dont want to be exhausting because you are loosing all your cold air out the exhaust so just adding an airconditioner isnt always the answer i see so many poeple with A/C's in there grow room all the while using an exhaust fan up top to exhaust all the air out 24/7 which means 24/7 your A/C is working at maxium becasue its constantly having to cool the air then the air is exhaust out and so on over and over....... Gotta have a way to shut your exhaust fan off while A/C is on and then when A/C is off you flip on exhaust to exchange air in the room then the A/C should flip back on and so on.......

I dont know that your not already doing this but i figured id let you know anyways.....

Could you not place your AC outside your grow room and manufacture a duct to direct the AC air into your grow whilst keeping your hot AC exhaust going through your roof?

That way any air out the roof will only be as smelly as the room you keep it in.

Or add more exhaust through a filter? As long as you keep negative pressure in the room(sucking out more with exhaust than pushing in with a/c) you should be good yes?

take the unit apart-

(covers). use the metal foil duct tape and foam weather strip to seal any holes gaps. my units have 6 inch hoses, which made adding a fan to the ducting easy. sealed unit and extra air.

if exhaust goes to roof there should be no way anyone of those pesky neibors should be able to smell anything at ground level

fuck that-

my shit is SEALED. and odor stiil escapes. in a pungent enough way to be instantly recognizable, when the ladies get a little dry.

if i had an untreated vent out the roof, i'd be fucked.
