I just added an air conditioner to my room, the free standing style. Love it! However I just thought about something...
I have the exhaust going up and out through a vent in my roof, which sounds like a great idea, except something just occurred to me... what about the smell?! The AC is taking in air from the room and exhausting the hot air out, but this is unfiltered air. So basically it's going to be blasting nice stinky air out once I'm into flowering. This is not going to work, I have some stinky strains... And nosey neighbors.
So what type of air conditioners are you guys using that don't need to exhaust air out? Or how are you dealing with this?
I don't mind buying a new AC unit since I wanted one for my bedroom anyway, but I can't afford to buy one of those $800-900 split style at the moment. Are those the only option for not having to vent out? How exactly do those work? They look like they have a small unit that has to be outside the house... Could this other piece be in the garage instead of outside the house? How far away from the AC unit can it be?
I can't really exhaust into another room and then pull that out through a filter, which might work, but I just can't do that ATM. but some creative solutions/ideas to get me through the next cycle or two would be great! Maybe an ozone generator in the duct before it goes out? Would the temp inside the duct from the AC unit be a concern for the ozone generator?
Any ideas, AC unit recommendations?
Thanks!
