Air Circulation with Scrogs

My question is does anyone see a point to using fans to blow on plants that are being woven into a screen of green? My thinking is that the main reason for having fans blowing on the plants would be to cause stress to the plants and make them respond by growing stronger thicker stems. The reason for that would be to have a stronger plant in general and said plant would be able to hold larger buds. However when using the screen of green method the screen is supporting the plant and therefore the buds and the plant then does not have to support its own wait. This makes me think that growing stronger thicker stems would be point less and consequently so would the use of fans blowing on the plant.

Let me know if I'm missing something, because i bought this fan today that I've been looking for for several months because they just came back into season, yay spring. Then when i got home i realized that i am now using a different growing method and that the fan appears to be pointless.



Also i bought this fan for $7.49 at Target today and boy is it a find, It is 4 inches big and they have it in several colors. I will be using it as an intake fan for my double cool tube run that i am building. This fan happens to be the coveted mini cage fan that is utilized by many stealth rubbermaid tub growers for ventilation. It also would be pretty choice for general air circulation in many different sized grows. So i say stock up! They also have the 9 inch white honey well high velocity table fan, which is the one i bought, that i know a lot of us growers use for the specific purpose of air circulation and have to buy online. Get 'em while they're hot i guess.

You need air circulation in any style of growing. It helps to fight against mold and fungus. I would have one underneath the scrog screen if that is what you are doing

has anyone found an effective way to get good air circulation with big outdoor sativa scrogs? The only thing i can think of is tying down branches...im sure FDD and o4 have some tricks...

Actually i have plenty of air movement through my cabin and i am using a vertical scrog that supports the plant the whole length vertically. Does that change anything? Thanks so much for the quick response.

haha you didn't even try to answer my question. Why not just start your own?

i wouldnt blow directly on them....it dries em out. just light air movement throughout and especially underneath helps.

accually smoote u dont have a scrog.you have a screen supporting your plant.to scrog you put the screen in vertical between the light source and the plant weaving only the buds through the screen allowing light to reach all buds easily.good luck with your grow plant is looking very good.

Cool thats definitely what i have. The way the air moves into that cabin is by a 1.5 inch vent that goes around the entire edge of the room.

I would think that it still falls into the screen of green category although vertical because i am still training the plant to the screen by tying the plant to it with twist ties. Isn't the essential goal of the scroging technique to train your plant to lay along a plane (screen) to maximize the use of your light and space? I think i'm doing more than just supporting my plant as i am spreading out its growth and making it grow in a way that allows the light to hit each node and ergo each new bud site equally. Does the plant have to be woven into the screen to be called a screen of green or can it just be tied down on top of it and still fall into the same category?

Ok so i am returning the fan tomorrow as it seems to have lost its use with my grow. Thanks for the help

Hmm i guess they do cover the same ground sort of, mines more about whether its necessary and yours is about how to get it. Eh pulling hairs here... i guess i was just looking for some attempt to answer my question and thought it would have just been easier for you to start your own thread and get a more direct answer. No qualms just trying to help you out as well. I appreciate the apology though you are very considerate to explain yourself.
