Air circulation and negative air pressure

Hi all

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I have a question about the air pressure in my home.

I want to exhaust and intake air from a room hanging off my basement. The basement will house a 5x5x7 gorilla tent. The idea is that this second room will have better air circulation. It also houses a larger humidifier, which will be helpful because the air in my basement is pretty dry (40% RH or so.). The idea is to have 6" intake and 6" exhaust fans (AC Infinity with carbon filter, ~250 CFM in, ~400 CFM out) drawing and pushing to opposite sides of that secondary room.

I've been told I can create negative pressure throughout my entire home doing this. I don't understand how that is possible, as I'm not taking in or exhausting directly from the outdoors.

Thoughts?

It's going to take a much larger blower to really pull a negative pressure on your whole home and you are correct about the configuration not allowing this. One would need a pretty good sized blower exhausting outside to pull negative pressure on your home. With your push pull arrangement you will likely pull a slight negative pressure on the room you are venting but thats about it.

That makes sense to me. Appreciate it.

If I were to quadruple this setup, the negative pressure would still be on the room rather than the entire house, correct? The two rooms are connected, so if there is negative pressure on the room, I imagine it would start pulling from the adjacent (basement) room.

I'm going to test this configuration out. I imagine cycling a veg tent, mom tent, and flower tent into a centralized location via independent ducting will allow for less equipment and power. Concentrate humidifiers, cool air, etc. Is this the right way to think about it?

For now, this will be a single tent.
