hey there. this is my first grow. i have been around grows before but only taken part from the sidelines. so this is all really a pretty new experience. i germinated 12 seeds, 10 of those were AFGOOEYand 2 OGKUSH
i germinated 6 in rockwool cubes and 6 in jiffies. i made a major newb mistake and planted most of the seeds upside down however they still all germinated. once they had germinated i transplated the ones in rockwool into soil. i left the jiffy ones as it was to difficult to dig them out and i didn't want to risk damaging them. however even with these set backs all 12 seeds germinated. i actually lost one seed a pot and planted another plant in the same pot and one started to grow right beside the 1 which was already established so i pulled it out and killed it. so now i have 11 germinated seedlings. i don't know which one is the OGKUSH or if the one i threw out was one of them. guess il just have to wait and see.
i also have 2 clones which were gifted upon me by someone. both were looking pretty close to death when i got them but i nursed them back to health. as you can see one of them is looking very healthy, green, short and stout. whilst the other one is very stuned and weak. i have decided to keep growing it anyway and using it as a tester for mediums and nute strengths etc before giving the same treatment to the other plants.
the soil is a basic seed raising mix from the store. they have a light layer of coco and perlite on them. the reason been is that some of my plants have roots growing to the top. or at-least im 90% sure that's what they are. so i have been trying to cover them as they grow. here is a close up picture of what im talking about.
any ideas or advice on this would be great
anyway. today is day 8 from seed. for the last 7 days i was using 2x55watt fluros for my seedlings. today i turned on my 600 watt MH because after transplanting 2 plants/seedlings into bigger pots (for testing) i couldn't have them upder the 55 watts without the lights being to far away from the other seedlings. also i have found that my seedlings tend to stretch towards the fluros. especially the ones on the outer edges. i know it's a bit early to be chucking them under the MH but fuck it. should produce some nice yummy light food for my babies
the 2 bigger pots are a 50/50 mix of perlite and coco peat. hopefully i have good luck with this mix. the guy at the hydro shop said this would be the best medium for a beginner. il see how my clone and seedling go and then transplant the rest when they are a wee bit bigger with maybe 2-3 sets of leaves. i have not feed anything yet. however the plants in the coco/peat mix are still incased in their original seed raising soil. so they should be ok to survive on that and their own vigor until they are a bit bigger. i have started feeding my clones be it a very diluted mix. i find the coco/perlite mix dries out very very quickly. i can tell im going to have problems with this later. however i do plan on building a basic drip feed system other the coming weeks to make things easier. i will also make a pot of just coco and do some comparisons between the two.
here are some pictures of my grow tent and set up. i have a quite powerful intake fan and a axial fan connected to an airsok filter. as i said before i am running a 600 watt MH and i have a 600 watt HPS ready to go. both bulbs are brand new out the box for max lighting potential.
