Afghan Kush...1 plant..1400w....what will she yeild??????????

Hello everyone....well after much thought and alot of time constraints, i decided to shut my perp. ebb n flow down for the winter....ill be starting it back up in january...so in the meantime, im gonna try something a little new to me...im going back in soil, and im growing a bush...up until now, the most i ever yielded of one plant, was right around 3ozs...i want to try and maybe triple that with this grow....there was 2 canidates up for the taking for this grow...i had a huge romulan thats been in veg since may and i had this Afghan Kush thats been in veg since April....the Rom was actually a little bigger, but her structure was off...didnt suit my liking, so i went with the AK...i got about 10 cuts of this back in april from an associatte and i flowered 8 or 9 of them off and keep this one for a mom...well at last check, i have 17 diff strains in pots, so its not feasable for me to keep them all...so this ones gotta go....i just harvested fri night,and i still need to bomb my room and take down my ebbnflow, so she wont go in flower until wednesday...i just had some time this morning to start this journal...take care and keep those buds reachin for the sky....ganj

so here the specs of room and nute line-up

flower room..
8'x8'
1000hps air cooled
400hps side lighting
8" vortex inline
8" Phreshfilter
2-6"inline fans pumping in fresh air
2-15" oscillating air kings

nutrients/soil
roots organic soil
complete line of GH organic
includes biobloom, bud, weed,root, marine,calmag and black diamond and a few others i forgot right now

so sit back relax and enjoy the show...it should be a good one..

here she is now...legs spread like a tijuana whore....tied her down so she gets alot more light penetration...ill have her under the 1000 and have the 400w for side lighting and spin her a 1/4 turn a day...should i let her veg for another week or so to fill in, now that shes spread, or will she fill in during the first few weeks of flower?

i hope i still got it.. the last time i grew in soil was about a year ago...im actually excited to do another one in soil...i was kinda gettin bored with the hydro..heres a couple pics from my last soil grow

i read that with growing big plants in pots, its better to use a more aggressive feeding schedule...is this true??with my soil grows, i usually feed, water,water,feed,water,water,...so basically every third time i water, it has nutes in it....should i bump this up to maybe feed,water,feed,water routine...or just stick with the schedule that i use on my smaller soil plants and see how that works??this is a organic grow, my first one...and i know its alot harder to burn when growing organic...but i think its still possible??could be wrong...

the growth of the shoots looks pretty thin all-round from the pics not sure why that is .. did you have the light very far away ?
its still a pretty big plant and should yield well and hopefully thicken up when it flowers
looks like it needs thinning out though to promote more colas and less popcorn buds

yeah...during veg, she was struggling for light as i had myself in the midst of a jungle...one of the reasons for flowering her off...
ill take that advice, as i kinda thought she needed thinned out myself...like u said, i hope she thickens up during flower and im pretty sure she will...thanks for the input doc...ganja

no problem dude .. a lot of that growth will not amount to much when it flowers
but the upper halves of the branches will still put out newer fatter growth ..as she flowers

you can thin it out as it grows all through its grow cycle, you don't have to thin it out all at once,
i think that might be better to thin it more gradually as she grows to see how she responds and to see how well the thinner growth starts to bud ..
as if you remove too much growth .. and it doesn't fatten up the overall yield would be smaller .. but i see no reason why it wont fatten/cluster up if you can now get it under some nice intense light

hey guys...heres whats happening with the big girl....well for the past 2 weeks, ive been thinning her out a little at a time....getting rid of all the smaller lower branches that are more in the way than anything...i still havent put the 400w in because of lack of time...she will be going in tonight, so next time i update, it will be in....so far everything is going great...i have fed her twice so far and so far i can so that im fairly un impressed with the gh organic line....just seems like its lacking something in the uummffffff dept...im gonna bump up the ppms this feeding so we'll see...i added great white and molasses to the lineup this feeding also...temps in the room are still hovering right around 88 with lights on and 80ish with lights off, so they have dropped...weather is bueatiful on the east coast this week, im ready to hit the lake for some monster bass in a couple hours....took a bunch of cutts last night to prepare for the next run...im gonna do a run of 30....10 romulan,10 jackberry(purplepheno)10 jackberry(greenpheno)....until next time, puff puff pass...

thanks mang...this is my first grow doing organic...ive been rockin hydro for the last few runs and just needed something new because of my busy schedule...one plant grow are kindo boring sometimes, so next run im rockin 30 in 3g bags...stoked to be back in soil...i missed it...something def lack in hydroponically grow weed....so its back to being a dirtball..thanks for stoppin thru maz

whats up ChB??thanks bro...she is a hefty woman....ive got some grows under my belt, but its my first attempt at a big plant like this....so its a learning experience in itself...she eats like a pig and no matter how much i give, it doesnt seem to be enough....ill feed her again in 2-3 days, and this time im going to mix up my nutes according to there "heavy" feed chart...see how she responds to that....she not showing any deficiences really, she just a little on the light side for my liking...would like to get her a little greener...going to put the 400w in tonight for the side lighting...then she should really start to fill in...this strain is a pretty solid yeilder, so im excited to see her grow...anyway, thank for subbin' and hopefully she puts out like the big whore she is

yeaa thats one hell of a plant! gonan be a fun time trimmin all the buds! hahaha. and yeaaa thats a real good idea to have sum side lighting. if u diodnt all the smaller branches would end up jus tpushin out lil popcorn buds... and that would be a BITCH to trim! hahaha. looks very good tho man. very healthy. =)

i was just talking to my wife about how much damn trimming its gonna be....all part of the game though...and thats why i trimmed alot of the bullshit, thin, underbranching...more juice to give to the mains

Nice looking plant boss...Dont u think 1400w is a little much...I mean ull be lucky to get 25%(350g or 12 oz)..U could get the same with just the 1000 and use less electric..Nice grow tho will be following to seee how she turns out..
