you can use whatever you like. i use cling film over a clone of mine (which is in a chaser glass for the sake of sience) and it works great. I use cling film over a food grade kind of clear plastic container, I use cheapo clear plastic cup or the top part of a clear bottle.
just about anything.

if its totaly closed more humidity will build up but you will have to remove it and put it again each day for air exchange. if you can poke a small hole it won't even need that.

the bottle method i've explained earlier is owesome because you don't need to do nothing. you leave the cap open and theres your air exchange.
I went further and placed the clone in one oz plastic cup from the kind used for wine samples and such, labled it and put it in the middle of the bottom part of the bottle. on the bottom of the bottle i've placed a bit of water that can vaporize and create costant humidity.

sup man, nice grow, they look really healthy. Keep that clone alive! Nothing more irritating then having to wait and see if you have females lol :)

Noooo! Not the clone! Just went through your thread and gota give you props - looking real nice - I love how bushy those babies turned out.

If the clone isn't completely yellow already then it might not be too late to save it - I've had clones take 2+ weeks to root and in the end they made it. Have any two liter soda bottles laying around? Cut the bottom off that and slide it over the clone - should work well enough. I put mine under a disposable plastic cake dome. Keep it up! Now the reason your my new best friend, lol, is because i just did EXACTLY what you said 1 hr ago, lol, awesome timing, so i hope maybe that will help, i will hold onto it till it wiltes and dies for sure, just in case i can get it back to fit.

Try slicing the ends of the leaves too. This will really help water loss from the leaves, which is what is causing you problems.

Normally the leaves come to a point.... --------->

Slice the end off.... -----------]

Get it? Only about 1/4 inch of so...

Also, remove that bottom most set of fan leaves. See, the more surface area of leaf, the more water will be sucked out of your clone through evaporation. Until the clone develops a sufficient root system to draw more water in, you need to minimize this.

That's why we mist them and place them under a humidity dome.

So the less leaves, the better IMO. One full set of fan leaves plus some new growth is what I shoot for. Look at the clone in my avi pic. That's my success level at 12 days since taking the cutting! Next time get a root compound like Clonex. Make sure you are cutting the stem at a 45 degree angle to expose as much of the plants phloem and xylum as possible to generate root growth!

That clone isn't a goner at all! Just make sure you spray every day or every other day and keep that bottle on top and the soil moist and you should be good to go. I'de trim bottom leaves as they yellow vs cutting them now - the plant is going to be using the nutrients in those leaves to put towards root growth.

Interesting, can i get some other opions on cutting leaves now vs later? bigjesse? i want to give her the best chance at life....By the way i am very thank ful to every one for helping with a clone i bever though would work anyway, i did it as a experiment but through your interest i am giving it my all!

I hope it lives. I went back and looked at ur clones original pic. Don't know what it looks like now, but i would definetly trim those leaves back. Just cut off half of each finger on your fan leaves, doesn't have to be crazy complicated just get some sterile scissors and clip. Leave the very top structures intact. Then, if you have a humidity dome now just wait. I have found soil cloning to be extremely reliable compared to hydro cloning, and i have only lost a couple clones since i made the switch. As long as the stem has good contact with the soil to absorb moisture and it's not rotting below the soil level or right at the bottom of the stem (called dampening off) then just leave it, it should bounce back eventually. Good luck with it :)

Thank you!! i have trimmed the fingers off and have the dome in place, now it is just the waiting game, i am unsure if "dampening" has occured, but i will keep an eye out.

Post a new pic if you think you might need to trim more.

Put it under some day light for us though, those last pics were hard to see ;-)

looking good... you look like a pro to me (I know you don't feel like one).

I never done clones, but I think it would help to get a sprayer and wet down the inside of the 2 liter before you put it over the girl... I'd wait for one of the other guys to confirm before I do it though.

nice work... you are keeping her alive.

Thank you!!no i don't feel like one, but i have gotten so much positive feedback from afew that i am proud of my grow, i put alot of time and money into it so far, though not as much as some, jigfresh seen how much you put into yours, wow, and i already have a sprayer so i will put it to use to keep the humity up!!thanks everyone

here are afew more, my cam really sucks but these may be better
Take off those bottom two fan leaves right at the stem with a sharp straight edge. That will improve its chances.

You're right! Mist the plants and leave a fine coating of misted water on the inside of the two liter bottle. This will allow it to keep itself alive by drinking water right out of the air!

yep misting definetly, it would prbly survive with those leaves on but you could cut em if it's looking droopy. You'll know it's dampening off if the stem at the dirt level starts to lose strength and go mushy, but if you have good soil and don't keep the whole thing sopping wet you'll be fine.

looking good man ..... you got a really healthy clone there. I am not sure on soil but it took me around 6 - 10 days to see roots in my hydro. If you see the leaves turning a little yellow i believe thats ok its starting to pull engergy from the leaves to start makeing the roots

P.S, just as a note, i left all leaves on just to see how it would go, at the first sign, i will cut them off
