Aeroponic sprayer nozzle issues.

@The_Dude You said you run 4qb's and 600 watts in flower, how much area do you cover with that? About 4 of the cob's I run are equal to about 1 QB288. So I guess you could say each one of my 4x8 tents is equivalent to running 8 qb's @1500+ watts. I also run co2 at 1200ppm but I recently kicked it up to 1500ppm. I don't think it's dangerous at all, there is some misinformation out there about co2, it takes over 10,000ppm to have any effect on humans...

Normal CO2 Levels

The effects of CO2 on adults at good health can be summarized to:

  • normal outdoor level: 350 - 450 ppm
  • acceptable levels: < 600 ppm
  • complaints of stiffness and odors: 600 - 1000 ppm
  • ASHRAE and OSHA standards: 1000 ppm
  • general drowsiness: 1000 - 2500 ppm
  • adverse health effects may be expected: 2500 - 5000 ppm
  • maximum allowed concentration within a 8 hour working period: 5000 - 10000 ppm
  • maximum allowed concentration within a 15 minute working period: 30000 ppm

I cover a 5x5 with 600watts. I used the HLG550 frame, with their board spread already drilled and calculated. Robin over at HLG is a great resource for information. I used two drivers, 1 per two lights, per Robin's suggestion. Actually when they first released the boards they sold out in minutes, I talked with him throughout the wait of his first release, and he helped me get the four boards that I wanted even after they were sold out. Not to mention he and his staff still answer my emails, regarding information about my lights. Considering how busy they are over there, I'm shocked at the customer service. Good people over there.

Aero's better than other methods I've used. As I feel I know more than average bear, I still consider myself a noob.

Hey guys, wow I have not posted on here in years! Bunch of new members!
Sorry for bumping a somewhat old thread, but this one is informative, so why not keep it going.
I've always been an old school grower, with an old school mentor, and therefore always grew in soil. However I'm just starting to "get my feet wet" with aeroponics. Ive been using a home built aeroponics cloner for about 10 years, but never used it for veg or flower.
I figure why not try now?
Anyway, I built the 1/2" PVC manifold and installed some sprayers. Everything looks like it's going to work out well. However 1 sprayer keeps making a high pitched squeeking noise every time the timer clicks on. It will do it off and on for about 30 seconds, then it goes away. I pulled the sprayer and replaced it with a new one. Still does it. Used some epoxy to seal the hole, and drilled a new hole/installed another new sprayer, still does it. It's after a 90* bend, if that makes a difference. The sprayer seems to spray fine, it's just more the OCD in me that wants to fix it, and the curiosity in me that wants to know what is causing it.

Two words of advice when using aero,

Running sterile keeps your sprayers clear longer and panty hose work awesome and seems much finer then filter bag. I have great success in my cloner with my neighbors panty hose!

I'm assuming the noise is from a pressure differential because of the bend in the pipe. Not sure if or how it would affect your plants at all though but plants do respond to music.

LOL, yes they do respond to music .That is true.
Had another thought as well.
I see many like to use air stones in the bottom of the res to keep the res mixed well. Has anyone ever installed sprayers on the bottom area of the legs of their manifold? I would think 1 sprayer on each leg (under the water line) would work even better than an airstone or 2.
Any thoughts?

You don't need airstones in aero. No need because you get all you need during the spray cycle or atleast that's been my experience.

How in the world would a properly diluted and mixed nutrient solution spontaneously unmix itself?

What about hydro with a 100 gallon res with no airstone setup with with a float valve?

It is simple, nutes have different weights. If not mixed reguarlly they will settle out.
I had three 2500 gallon fertilizer tanks when I was in the golf biz, each contained either one nute or a mix of nutes. I also had a 500 mix tank to make my own mix. In either case prior to being injected into the irrigation system we had an air disk in each tank that produced a column of tiny air bubbles to keep everything in solution. We did not have to worry about pH when irrigating 200 acres. :)

Lol sorry, I am a soil guy, sounds like a struck on a touchy subject.
I'm going to hold off for now on the air stones(s) and see if I notice anything settle. Tonight I will actually be transporting a couple of 3-6" clones into the aero setup for the first time.
I'm also trying GH FloraSeries for the first time. Anyone have a dosage/PPM cheat sheet for early veg/veg/flower?
Target PH of 5.8?
Also: Once the roots take off, how do you guys fill/check PH in the tub/res? I was just going to drill an extra hole for a 3" net pot and throw a neoprene puck in it. Then I can just pull it out to fill/check PH.
