aerogarden questions

just waiting for the aerogarden to be delivered, i was thinking instead of a timer would it work if for the first 3-4 weeks just use the salad green settings, then for the flowering cycle just move to the flower setting. would this work? i was thinking of using the lowryder2 seeds, which are auto. could any one recommend any other seeds which would suit the system i heard people mention bigbud. also what are the little extras i should add to the aerogarden to make it better. any advice would be appreciated. cheers

Definitely get a small aquarium air pump and air stone. I use a Million Air MA200 pump and 4 inch air stone. Best 10 bucks you'll spend. I also added 5 additional CFLs and had to hang the AG light once the plants got too tall. I use Fox Farm nutes, General Hydroponics PH up and down, PPM and PH meters. This is my first grow and its actually going preatty well so far. Started with 3 bag seeds, 2 survived and they both turned out to be female. But if I grow again I'll consider making something myself. Mayby use the AG for cloning or something. Overall it was a good learning experience. Plus you can still use it for a small kitchen garden if you want in the future.

I would use the tomatoe setting till you switch to flowering 12/12

I don't really think the settings effect the growth much if any....

The only important part is the dark cycle....

If your growing an auto flower make sure it gets 4-8 hours of darkness
if your growing regular strain make sure it gets, 12 hours of darkness when you want it to flower and bud...
