Compact florescents will do just fine thats what im using currently, as for getting extra lights definitly the more the better i learned that the hard way, my plant streched out cause all i had was the aerogarden hood, got good advise from other members, now shes getting better.

That is the CFL style setup me and many others use. Simple CFLs plugged into outlet-splitters, which you can get at any home improvement store.
You'll want Daylight for vegging, and Soft White for flowering, though having both kinds is always best :)

Make sure you get "23Watt, 100W equivalent" - the larger number is the one you wanna look for :)

No the larger number is not what you want it means didly squat if it says 300w equivalent it's only 65w really, so go by what it says not what its equivalent to because it's comparing the CFL's to incandescent lighting which you really can't even use for growing... and yes extra lighting is necessary if you plan on flowering your plants which i'm assuming is everyones goal when they grow, otherwise just the AG lights are no good once your done vegging.

I just meant that 23Watt and "23=100W" lights arent always the same

Did you try the upgrade kit from A/G with the three CFL's and the taller light stand? It's about $110.00 from AG but the three lamps made a big difference for me. I haven't needed any extra lamps and I worry about too many cords becoming a wireman's nightmare and a fireman's field trip. Hank
