my friend has 2 plants growing with his deluxe AG. They are a foot tall and are healthy. If he does nothing due to time and money, is there any chance there will be a happy ending? No money for nutes or lights. Has anyone been succesful in any way by just allowing the AG to do its thing? Next time around money will be no problem and all ideas and advice wil be listened to

Here's a pic from a few days ago. There are two females, but one is a tiny 8" strain and the other is just huge.
That's why next time I'm doing something a little bit different, and i'll just use this AG for cloning.
Yeah, that's what i am doing. I have two AG Deluxe's in a XSM Homebox that i am using for vegging seedlings, clones and mothers. Then i have a 400w Super HPS with a 2x2 ebb and flood tray in a S Homebox that i am using for flowering.

As far as removing the battery backup goes, that did work for me, however, the pumps and everything all came on /off at one time. So that was not as good of a solution as my current one, which allows the light hood to be controlled seperately by a timer (and a long 6' cord, in case you need to raise it), while the base unit is plugged directly into the wall as normal.

Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. All i have instaleld on my PC at the moment is Paint, lol...so here ya go!

ok. i like the picture made Merciless_One, but I was wondering exactly how the appliance timer works... I know that you get the 6 ft. AC Power Cord with a "Figure 8" plug on one end and a normal wall outlet plug on the other, as well as the appliance timer.

On the lamp part of the set up (the top) the figure 8 goes directly into the top, then the wall plug goes into the appliance timer. where does the appliance timer get it's power from?

that is a simple question, but it is rather crucial...perhaps i do not understand the concept of so-called "appliance timers"!

The fig 8 extension goes from the lamp (at the top) to the timer, which is connected to your standard outlet. Then the cable that powers the pump, goes into the wall by itself in the next standard socket. i.e. the lights are the only thing that need a timer, everything else goes in the wall.

While digging through some old computer crap I had laying around, I came across this cable, which is a perfect match for the Aerogarden lamp hood, just as Vand had figured out. I figured other people would want to know more info about this kind of cord, so ..

The name for this kind of connector end is called a "figure eight", and is a pretty common type of cord from what it seems. Nothing crazy or propriatary.

Here is a link to purchase the cable from any Radio Shack in your local area:
RadioShack.com - Power & Batteries: Extension & power cords: 6-Ft. AC Power Cord

Also, they have a simple appliance timer there too that you'll need so you can set the light cycle for flowering:
RadioShack.com - Home & Office: Clocks & watches: Mini Plug-In Lamp/Appliance Timer

I walked out of RadioShack for less than $20, and everything is working beautifully with the base unit set to "salad greens" (which keeps the nutrients/pumps running 24/7) , and set the timer to set the lights on an 18/6 cycle.
just so everyone knows, I'm sure Merciless_One knew what they were doing, but the model number that is linked above is incorrect (as of today).

that shows you model #61-2878, but you NEED model #61-2876. just so ya know...

back to radioshack!

here ya go everyone!

i planted on valentine's day...they have been on the "herbs/basil" setting until today (i bought the timer & cord suggested on the first page of this forum to mod my ag)...now it's on the 12/12 flowering cycle suggested by many experienced growers.

as far as nutes, i have used only the ag-provided tabs (both) since planting. also i spray the plants with carbonated water maybe once a month or so. one day i also let dry ice (5lbs of frozen CO2) evaporate inside the room one day out of the past month.

compared to other posts i've seen on here (ppl using nutes other than those provided by ag and ppl using 24/7 light cycles) i think my babies are doing quite well... what do you think?

also... on the stalk pics does it look as if there is some kind of mold starting? thx for looking!

Those look pretty nice GG. Are they clones are seedlings? In pic #2 it looks like that metal thingy is holding down one of your side branches. That's not good, you want that side branch to get big...I'd try to get it up above that metal thing. As for the mold, I don't know what that is. what does it look like?

Just don't let any light get in your resevoir, and make sure the water temps stay cool. If it gets too hot, you'll get all kinds of nasties growing down there. :blsmoke:

Looking nice GG, I'd get some more lights....

That mold your talking about? Do you mean those white bumps on the lower stem? If so thats natural dont worry about it....

I like how you rigged the light hood too... did you take it apart and drill holes?

Roots look good too...

Is that Dill I see growing back there? C'mon get that outta there lol! haha j/k but it could complicate things, but maybe not...

Good luck
Peace

They are seedlings. Ya...that one got broken in some battles with the feline species....lol. It's a lil sad right now!

I just got display boards, covered them with foil and surrounded my babies with them...so i hope this works! The mold is on the gray sponges and it is green. I will have to try to get more pics of it tomorrow. I hope changing the pump to 24/7 will help.

thank you again!

Wow thanks greengurlie!! so thats what the roots are suppose to look like!! omg mine look so nothing like that whatsoever... are you changing the water at all? Checking the ph? do you have a fan or airstone?.. just a few things i learned to have after my first failed attempt at growing..

here ya go everyone!

no... i haven't done any of those special things! i was thinking of checking the pH soon just out of curiosity... i don't want to mess it up too much though b/c they seem to be doing pretty well for 1 month...this is my first time.

Expect the plants to get 3x as tall as they are now. And watch the tops, making sure you don't get light burn. I had two males grow like 4 inches in 12 hours, right into the lights...but they deserved it since they were males. Speaking of light, do you have any supplemental lighting? That AG hood is gonna need some help soon.

These plants have been grown totally with aerogarden nutes; I never hung the light; the only mods i made were screws in the sides of the areo garden to tie the plants down to so i could LST them.

With 50 cents worth of mods, this is what i have.

I have to say I'm now and forever an Aerogarden fan:) i just harvested some bud off my best lowryder and left the rest to seed. my first grow using the aerogarden and lowryders:) its like lowryders and the aerogarden were made for each other. i cant wait until my next grow cause its gonna be all about the ladies;) i don't think i'll ever go back to using soil. peace
