how easy do you find it transplanting with regards to stuff like the roots? how big are the roots before you transplant?

Its a pain in the ass! To anser your question I am going to try a new technique with those foam plugs for cloning. I think those will work the best. Basicly in my opinion the ag in just a tub The watering feature is pretty useless if you use rockwool because you are over watering the rockwool and will get browning unhealthy roots up top and just promoting algea on the top of the rockwool exposed to the light EVEN is you are covering the rockwool on top with a "disk". Thats just my opinion. Oh forgot to mention in this sinerio you are using a airpump and air stone.

So if you use one of those foam things for cloning dangle the roots, use the watering feature and use an airstone and in my opion that would work best. I have not tried it yet but in theory it would make for the best roots. Going to try that next and will tell you the outcome.

These are just my opinions based on what I have experienced and tried using the AG. Will they work? Dont know yet.

i've read a grow journal with someone doing clones in the ag. they've had good results. i am using the sponges and planted taproot seeds. i'm 10 days in and upped my nutes probably a bit to much but they seem to be coping, just a slight bit of burn. if they continue doing well then i will take some clones and use them in the ag and transplant the 3 i have now into a homemade dwc in my tent which should turn up next week.

do you do any ph testng and the like? i don't at the mo but i think i might have to if my burns increase.

Ya I ph test every day. The AG has a 1 gallon tank or in your case 4 lt tank and the ph can change fast and can block out nutes and messing up a grow. I also use RO water that is always a steady 5.0 ph. I try and keep mine at a 6 - 6.5 level.

When I was talking clones above that is already how I grow. I was just saying that I think those foam plugs to hold clones would work best to hold your plant in place in the AG unit.

Hey guys,
I'm new to hydroponics and the aerogarden, but I have a general idea on how to go about growing. Earlier in this thread people were talking about making an aerogarden grow guide, but I'm not sure if it was ever done. Everyone has their own tips and tricks and it would be nice to combine all of them into a step by step word document with pictures. I see some really nice setups and great results, but a lot of people neglect to mention the specifics and in turn a lot of information is missing. It would also be nice to have a breakdown of costs. I know it's more of a learning process, but some people here on the forum have it down to a science and I would like to know their methodology. Thanks guys!

I have that generic Wal Mart airstone in the bottom of my ag. Its like it was built for it. it fits across the entire bottom in the middle of the res. it bubbles like crazy. my roots on my plants are fucking insane.
i dont know how you could imagine not using an airstone in this thing!
