Aerogarden Attempt #1

This is my first attempt at growing and aerogarden. I got the ag on craigslist for $25 so including food and crap I spent about $80 all together.

Crap List:

Prue Blend Pro bloom fruit and flower formula
Air Stone
Air Pump
pH Test strips
Rapid Rooters
Bio Root root booster

I still have to buy a pump to change the water, a timer and pH control. I germinated using the ag and I have some seeds germinating in paper towel. I have the AG7 and 4 spots are being used. If this works I may buy some expensive seeds but right now my set up is muy ghetto so bag seeds it is! I had some mylar in my basement and cut up a cardboard box. I had an extra 27 watt Hg light and I use that to. So far nothing. I have the AG set to strawberry.

Any ideas on how to make this better?

Set to strawberry? Is that for germinating? I usually germinate them before placing them in the AG, and once I put them there I leave it on the setting of 24 hour and I just manually turn the lights on and off. I would suggest getting some 2700k bulbs for flowering, they're pretty cheap.

Yes they are still germinating. I tried the paper towel method for two weeks, these bag seeds suck and did nothing. I'm going to hope for sprouts and then hope for chicas!

I germinate them in cup with water, works awesome for me and it's less hassle.

Just pop the seeds in water? in a plastic cup? I'll try it.

One of the seeds in the cup have already started to crack!

I changed the set up for my AG today. I changed the rez, decided to try 3 instead of 4 plants and added 2 20 watt cfl. Waiting for my seeds in the cup to finally germ so I can get growing. Pics to follow.

I hope you dont plan on flowering in that setup lol.. . like 6inch mothers LMAO

Actually I do. I don't want huge plants because they're staying in the AG.

haha sweet man. What i would get is a power strip some Y socket adapters (makes 1 bulb fixture into 2) and some outlet to socket adapters to plug the bulbs in. This cost me like 15 bucks at homedepot

I checked on my seeds today and the one that cracked has a tiny little....penis? lol Still waiting for germination..............

Just like with Trueblood waiting sucks!

the top raises then.. cause your plants will out grow that.

I'm back with some great news!!! I did, in essence, quit, but when I returned I had some bona-fide plants. All I did? Stick them in dirt under a light and voila! Bill is on the left and Eric is on the right. Guess whose in the midst....That's right the Sookster herself....Sookie! Can anyone tell me what type of strain they think they are.... Pics to follow!
