Advise Requested - Outdoor SCROG, pruning, 2nd top ?

Hi All,

Its great to be part of the community!

This post is a bit longer for which I apologize but I have some real noob questions about my current grow and how to take it further

Questions:

  • When can I TOP them again? (A)
  • Can I top or FIM the side branches (B and C) ?
I want to set up a SCROG for them.

  • If I do so how far above the canopy should the net go?
  • Which of the branches do I tuck ? (A, B, C ....)
  • What do I do with the lower branches (D,E,F,).
    • Do I prune them? How much?
    • If I prune do I leave the fan leaves or do I cut the entire thing
Using LST instead:
  • If I instead did LST over SCROG do I vend the ntire main branch over OR do I just pull the side branches (B,C etc) out to the side?
Strains:

  • Peyote Critical - Humbolt Seeds
    • Day 38
    • Topped: 15th November
  • Gorilla Breadth - Barneys Farm
    • Day 38
    • FIMMed: 15th November
  • Moonshine Haze x Ghost Train Haze #1 - Rare Dankness
    • Day 31
    • Topped: 20th November
Grow Set Up:

I'm a bit confused. Your sun is always 12/12? Hard to get vegitative growth with that.
When to employ training techniques outdoors is entirely dependent on how much vegetative growth you get before 12/12. Topping, FIM and LST require veg growth for at least a couple of weeks after employed to get the best results. Good luck!
For LST, bend the main top below other grow tips. The plant will think it's damaged and spread growth hormones to the other growtips. When you see the rest of the plant expanding, release the main top and the plant will grow uniformly.

It's always 12/12 in Hawaii, we just put a regular lightbulb on for a few hours in the middle of the night to keep plants in veg. works like a charm.

Anyway, I'm doing scrog for the first time. I put the screen up on Day 1 of flower, let the plants stretch for the first ~two weeks while tucking the tallest branches through the screen to keep the canopy even. Once stretch is done, cleaned up any branches that didn't pass through the screen. Also, I have a drip system which saves me from having to crawl under the screen to water everyday.

Did you Top?

Did you just let those gorgeous girls grow naturally until flower and then started tucking?

Did you prune any of the lower branches?

Apologies for the questions - your just achieving what im trying to do and feel im totally fucking up!!

I topped a couple times in veg, but I didn't do any topping after I put the net up. You should have at least 2 weeks of veg after any topping. I set my net 1-2 ft below the top of my plants so I could start training on the first day. Its pretty much the same as an LST but using a different support system...easier in my opinion as you don't have to tie individual branches to your pots. Some people will use 2-3 levels of screens depending on how big and how much veg time the plants have.

Once stretching has stopped, you can prune anything that didn't pass through the screen as they will get crowded out once the bigger branches starting filling out. Good opportunity to take any last minute clones as well.
