I am considering growing in a couple trees this summer with one or two different Ruderalis strains. Here is my plan so far, any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
- I want to plant 10 different plants in the tops of trees. I am going to cut out the top of the south side of the tree so that I would be getting as much light as possible to the plans. I am only going to put 2 plants in each tree and use 5 different trees in different locations so that if one spot is found by some nosy nate, the other 8 plants will still be relatively safe.
- I am thinking about using these seeds. http://www.cannabis-seeds-bank.co.uk/lowryder-seeds/lowryder-easy-ryder-aka-lowryder-2-x-ak47/prod_442.html
- I am going to start the seeds in root riot cubes inside of a cup on a window sill until they reach a couple inches in height. Then I'll plant the cubes into 1 gallon pots of Happy Frog Soil. Once they had grown into that pot, I will transplant them into three gallon buckets of a mixture of Ocean Forest Organic Potting Soil with Light Warrior Grow Medium, along with whatever Happy Frog soil I have left from the 1 gallon pots. The reason I'm mixing soils is because I've heard that pure ocean forest is too hot for smaller plants and can end up burning them up.
- These buckets are where it gets a little more detailed. The buckets are 10" in height. I am thinking of filling the bottom 2" with hydroton and drilling holes around the outside of the bucket about 2" up. This bottom part of the bucket would stay filled with water, the reason for the holes being that if it rained, the water would rise up to the top of the hydroton, but not completely soak the soil because of the drainage holes around the outside. The rest of the bucket would be filled with the soil mixture mentioned earlier, leaving about 1/2" at the top unfilled.
- I'll be going out to each site twice a week to check up on them and water, if needed.
- Has anyone ever tried these particular seeds? If so, what did you think of the final product?
- If the seeds say that they are finished in 70-75 days from germination, I'm thinking it will realistically take 75-85. If this is true, when should I plant in the cubes?
- Obviously if it rains often, I won't have to water very often, but how many times per week should the plants be getting rain, either from me or naturally?
- Because the ocean forest soil is so nutrient dense, I don't think I'll need to add nutes until they start flowering. Am I right or should I be adding my own nutes while the plants are vegging too?
- What nutes should I use for vegging (if needed) and what kind for flowering?
- I know pH should be controlled when growing in hydro, but can you/should you control pH when using soil? If so, how do you do it and what is a desired pH?
- Any advice about the soil types I'm thinking of using or suggestions about other types?
- Any advice about the way I'm growing or other suggestions regarding the guerilla style or pots/buckets I'm using?
