Advice on basics of CLONING?

I am just about ready to take cuttings. I would like to top them as I am hoping for shorter, bushier plants.

I am looking for:

1. Recommendation on rooting hormone
2. What else to apply? Ive heard peroxide and some sort of insect preventer?
3. do I need to use a bubble?

Is there anything else?

perhaps there is a video or thread that tackles the basics of cloning?

Thank You....

I've found the powdered rooting hormone sold at Lowe's to be effective.

Cut at an angle, scrape off a bit of the cambium layer with a razor, dip in water, dip in rooting hormone, then place in medium. I've used perlite, perlite & vermiculum, and rockwool.

Keep them in a high humidity environment, keep the medium moist, with light a good distance a way and they'll sprout a good set of roots in a week.

Thank you.

I've heard there is something else I can add to prevent spider mites or make them more resistant. Anyone know about this? My last grow was sabotaged by the little buggers and I want to do all I can.

How big should the cutting be? is 3" too small? How many nodes?

I have found many resources now on cloning. Thank you.

About the CFL question.....Im new, but Ive read that with CFLs you want to be real close to the foliage, 1-4" from the leaves....

I would keep the CFL's and T12's about 10-12" away from clones. They don't need much light until they throw roots. Keep the stress minimal at first.
