Advice needed: Tray not draining well

Hey all, I just replaced a 2x2 Botanicare tray with an American Hydro 3x3 tray. I am using the same fittings from my previous tray (bought from same store and told to use them) but I am noticing the water isn't going back in and there's about 1/4" of water sitting in most parts of the tray, I am doing 6 plants.

Eventually, the water evaporates during the day from the light/heat but I don't know how dangerous this may be to my plants.

Any thoughts on how to get it to drain, or if it's ok to have a little water?

Many thanks

you can cut up some small 1/2" tall blocks and stick them under the legs on one side of the tray. A little water sitting in the channels of the tray isn't that bad of a thing, especially if you flood often.

i use a 3' long 1x4 laid flat on opposite side of drain but if yours evalorates off in 1 day i wouldnt trip on it i made my 3x3 tray out of a plastic 350 gal tank 15 gals floods it just right so i have only 1 inlet when i cut off pump nutes drain back through the pump some trays have drain in center i prefer the drain on the side as my room is only 4x3 with 3x3 tray so i only have access from door way if you dont mind me asking what light & nutes are you using ??? & how far are you into your grow ??? im not a rocket scientist but have 2 hydro grows done &1 in progress [1 month today] i like to converse people doing similar stuff as me if i can teach you something thats cool or if i can learn something thats even better good luck h.h.

I use Botanicare nutes under a 400w HPS. I have 6 plants in there, 3 of them for 4 weeks and the others a couple weeks behind each other. Been using the tray for about 4 days, the plants are no worse for wear just kind of bothered me to see the water floating around, plus I'm losing a lot more and having to add plain water, dilluting my tank I think, so I'm gonna be busy watching them closely.

This is my first grow and I haven't paid much attention to PPM, I have changed my res every 10-14 days and only add distilled water for fills. Wasn't going to mess too much with it until I have my basics down better.

I flood 3 times a day, none during the dark periods.

Thanks guys , feeling a bit better about it. Going to try to get the AM hydro fittings typically sold with this tray, my fittings now stick up more than on the other tray but that's all the local store has.

use a bigger hose (1/2) on the drain hole smaller hose (1/4) on the fill hole...check your hose for cloges too, or rise the back side abit..hope i helped
