Advice for moving plants in winter time?

I gotta move here in a two weeks time and I'm in canada (still pretty nippy outside). I got plants that are in the 5th or 6th weeks flower, wondering if someone can give me some tips for moving them. I'm worried exposure to cold temps outside will harm them. Of course i'll do my best to keep them as warm as possible, i.e. get the truck real warm before i put them in and etc. I am a fully legal medical patient but would still want to keep it as stealth as possible.
Anyone done this before?

plants dont care about that kind of cold. but its real cold in jail

Warm up the vehicle before hand. Shortest distance possible while the plantas are outside, dont want to shock them.

I use the large paper landscaping bags, with heavy black contracter style plastic bags over top of them.

I've moved plenty of plants this way, all have made it just fine, no hiccups.

get a uhaul van..get some boxes make it look like your actually moving your actual belongings .I wouldnt attempt putting them in the backseat of a standard truck.
You never stated how far of a ride you got to go or how big the plants are.. could you get there with a 12hr window when lights go off?
Are you in a rural or urban setting? info helps.

I'm rural now and moving to a city. 30 minute drive. I was gonna put them in normal carboard boxes, put them in the cab of the truck, then straight into the apartment when i got there. Set up the tent right away, so they can go i nfor the night.

You've solved your own problem.

@sunandsky id let those plants ride it out as long as you can in your current setup and place..and chop early and save yourself the hassle.

you got a carbon filter on your tent? powerful exhaust fan?

Not sure where you are in Canada but the forecast in Eastern Ontario is for +2-+5 for the end of the month. That will help a lot for the containers to hold their temperatures better. I think you should be OK, and on the plus side you sound close to harvest anyway. I know a few of my buddies that wait until after the first frost to harvest their outdoor, no problems so far.

Yep. I live on the border of Canada in the Northeast and I've done it with no problems at all. I grow perpetual so I had to move plants that were in every stage. I didn't lose any. Though, before moving I made certain my grow room was fully operational and I made a few inquiries here regarding their new environment. I have 2 extended cab pick-ups and we made several trips. This was April, last yr. Just warm your vehicle a bit and do it under the cover of night...legal or not. Be gentle and swift and you shouldn't have any probs. GL

crossing the bridge into the US with marijuana plants is risky. thats what you were doing, until you said you were 30 minutes away.
no worries of temps, they'd survive on your rooftop

Where did the OP state he was attempting to cross the bridge through customs with pot plants?

I think he's just a funny guy

Sounds like a short trip in a enclosed vehicle, but one trick is to water them with the regular room temp water, or a few degrees warmer but not actually warm. The water will keep the plant warm for a few hours. This can also help save you in cold snaps if you dont have a heater in the room.

Ahh great answers. Sometimes I think it's just a matter of bouncing ideas back and forth with people to get your brain settled. I just talked to the place that handles the building and they are letting me move in a week early, so that means I don't have to rush the move and do it all in one day. Similar temps here in manitoba too Zoic. I grabbed a few big ass boxes from behind a mall today, one big xbox/playstation box that i guess was some sort of video game display, will be able to fit at least three in there, and then two other pretty decent sized boxes. also found big ass wall posters in my search for boxes. With women on them. haha woo. each poster is about 4 and a half feet tall. reminds me of my garbage rummaging days as a teenager. lot of great treasures we'd find.

I'm kind of annoyed at the whole smell thing. I got the legal right, why the fuck do i need to mask the smell right? Idk. You never know though, some landlords smell it and find a random excuse to give you the boot. The tent will be in a bedroom with the door always closed. What you guys think i should do?

Where I live (PNW) the legal right to grow medical cannabis also comes with the understanding that you will mitigate the smell. Same for the commercial over 21 growers.

Really? all my little thing says is "You may wish to take measures so that other people do not know that you are growing marijuana, or producing cannabis, for your own medical purposes (e.g., ensuring plants cannot be seen from outside your yard or house; limiting marijuana smells coming from your production site).
