Hi all,
I started my first grow about 5 weeks ago now from some seeds that I had picked from some buds. The system I am using is the naked hydroponics system which I guess is a mix between NFT and DWC. I have a 450w LED grow light with grow and bloom switches and an oscillating fan. The plants are currently just under 15cm on the tallest ones. I have trimmed one of them whenever a lower leaf is covered by a top leaf (the one on the far left) and have trimmed the lowest of leaves on some of the others. I have noticed that with this system there is know airstone or method of providing oxygen to the water so I have been adding some hydrogen peroxide when changing the reservoir over each fortnight (I changed it weekly for the first 3 weeks).
I was wondering if anyone has used this system or something similar. The system an info on how to use it is all on their website and they claim that the system work quite well for everything legitimate like tomatoes and strawberries etc. They recommend to change the water once a fortnight, topping up with fresh water in between and recommend nutrient volumes to use with each fill as time progresses. After speaking to the guy he said that his strawberries are growing fine in PH7 water with the recommended feeding schedule. (he is growing outdoor)
It doesn't seem like the plants have really grown all that much for 5 weeks for what I have been reading. I am using Advanced Nutrients Ionic Grow at 30ml/3L and have to use PH down on a daily basis to keep it between 5.8 & 6.2, I am also using Root Excelurator as per instructions.
The light is clearly sitting quite high above the plants as I was concerned that the reason they were so short was too much light as there does not appear to be any nutrient deficiencies at the moment.
If any one has any advice would be greatly appreciated. I think maybe I should invest in a pump and reservoir and convert to NFT...
