Adventures in eBay - Chinese "Hemp" seeds - $3 - Possible "Ducksfoot"?

So a few months ago (during the pre-christmas shopping blitz) I found myself viewing random auctions for grow related products.

I admit that I cracked a grin when I saw the auctions for "hemp seeds" from China for $3. (With shipping!)

"What the hell... $3. Sure."

So I pulled the trigger.



I admit... I doubted I would get anything, let alone actual cannabis seeds. A couple weeks go by and I forget I even bought them.

Then, they show up.

Pretty much packaged exactly as expected... Totally improper for seeds. Basically a tiny Ziploc in an envelope.

"Cool... Seeds. No way they are going to germinate shipped like that."

Fast forward to today.


What is that? Too soon to tell if it's actually cannabis (cough "hemp" cough) but if so... Duckfoot?

Basic leaf mutation?

Crazy Chinese weed? (If smoked, will it turn me into a communist?)

While i didnt get my chinese mysteries from ebay, i did get some thru geek.com(wish's daughter site). This is my stunted summer survivor. She got heat stunted because i didnt have, and still only have a marginal, clue about what I'm doing. I took a closer look at her through a very small 90x scope and i thought i could see trichs. Here she was 25 days into flower. I've got plenty more so I'll be starting some more soon.

Im only getting started on the hydro side. I've got a little pineapple Express clone ready to go, but i only have one tent and its flowering for at least another month. I've got her bucket, pump, aerator, net lid and grodan cube. I just don't have an area as warm as the tent for her to get 18 hours. Im thinking of letting her flower with the others, then trimming her back and regressing her to veg. Im thinking that should "monster crop" her out and imay be able to turn her into a mother.

Ever considered making a "space bucket" for your "Lone Clone"? I haven't made one yet, but it's on my "bucket list" if you will. They look like a great way for me to force-flower clones for plants too young to sex.

I've grown ducksfoot before. Total waste of time imo as it produced crappy buds that didn't get you high.

Your pic looks like ducksfoot, but I'm surprised it's from seed, as I had a cut and I imagine it's just some weird mutation. Might as well take a couple cuts of it and grow it out to see if it gets you high. Upside of a plant like that is that you could grow it outside with no suspicions (in theory). Good luck not turning into a communist.

If I successfully complete the grow I'll make sure I give it away free rather than force my friends into hard labor.

So, Dish, i know the bucket, what else are you using? Im jealous of the sheer size you've got there. Are you dwc? Active drip? If that's what you got from a seed in a couple months i HAVE to know what I'm doing wrong.

Subbed. I am curious to see how those Chinese seeds come out...

I'm a first timer so I have several types of grows going. I spent about 6 months reading literally every book and PDF I could get my hands on.

The plant in post #3 was aplant that I rescued from over watering.
I was gifted the plant on Dec 25th and didn't realize that the pot it was in didn't have drainage holes.

I watered it too much and it "got sad".



I gently busted up the rootball and rinsed it off in PH 6 water at room temp. I transplanted it into some clay pebbles and made a DWC bucket for it. (just a bucket with an airstone at the bottom)


It got worse before better, and I thought it was a goner.




The water in the DWC was PH'd to 6. I didn't add ANY nutrients at first because well... I didn't have any. I would have added some rapid start had I had any.

A week went by and then...



I kept a close watch on water temps and levels and she continued to thrive...


After a couple weeks I topped it and used a root riot cube to clone.



I started adding GH nutes at 1/2 strength and she's responding quite nicely. I have had it under a 24/0 light schedule since Dec 25th and plan to switch to 12/12 on Feb 1st.

Here's the root mass last night...



I'm not sure what direction I will ultimately turn to when I decide on a main growing method... Hell, maybe I never will. I simply enjoy all the experimenting and crafting that goes along with the different methods. While I obviously care about yield, I'm much more concerned with quality and the simple enjoyment of growing.

Here's my vegging tent as of 5 min ago... 4 in Coco Loco, 1 in a rockwool\DWC combo and one in a modified soilponics setup.



I've got Green Crack, GG4, Cookies N Cream, Pine Warp and some crazy "Ducksfoot" mutation that sprung from a pack of EBay seeds I scored from China (no kidding)



This law change is so exciting! I feel like a kid again...

Her story is on previous posts. She isnt putting out much in trichs still. And she may not. I will be better to the next ones. Im thinking coir, a slow drip, ans much closer lights. Im trying to find a lower cost mh system to use as a primary light and the leds to supplement. Any suggestions?

Yeah I was reading up on the history different that's for sure.

In my own Chinese adventures i have started seeds from the other two varies varieties i got. I started 10 total. 4, c1 and 6 c3. They had their peroxide bath last night and they started in their soak. I transferred them to paper towels tonight and one of c3 already popped! Im giving her another day or two before she gets a jiffy pot.
