I assume, you used a smaller light, and some type of small DWC/Hydro... It could have used a lot more light apparently, and with that, more room for root growth.
Aside from that, your plant looks/looked wonderful for the setup. Have you cut it down yet? what did you yield? what was your setup.
Small black dots can be from spider mites, other small critters or mold. As well as necrosis from over fertilization, witch it does not look like. to be honest, i could even see small black dots.
