Advanced Nutrients?!?!?!

I recently harvested a blue venom plant from dinafem. I used sensi grow, sensi bloom, overdrive, and unsulfured molasses on the plant. I stopped giving the plant nutrients 6 weeks before harvest. The bud, after drying for 6 days, and curing for a week, still tastes like chemicals and leaves pure black ash. The soil I used was Fox Farm Ocean Forrest.

I used to be a huge fan of Advanced Nutrients. I have to say though, this has lowered my expectations. I would be willing to sacrifice weight for at least normal tasting, clean bud. I had this problem with all my other plants as well, but I mention the blue venom because I literally didn't give it anything for 6 weeks. I used Final Phase on the other plants and they mostly tasted like shit too.

Has anyone else ever experienced this or maybe could tell me why I am?

Also, anyone ever used AN's Organic line? It any good? I am thinking about just using some Blue Mountain Organics.

did you flush with staight water and then stop watering for the last couple days to get teh plant to use everything that was left in its system

also did you check to see if your plant was using the nutes some people have nute lock then when they stop giving the nutes the plant starts using whats in the soil which maybe a lot of left over nutes

There may have been the possibility of nute lock. I never checked the ph because my water is balanced and the Advanced Nutrients is supposed to have ph and ppm perfect technology. I never saw any signs of nute lock and the plants grew wonderfully for the most part despite overcrowding.

Another possibility is that my Fox Farm Ocean Forrest wasn't aerrated enough and kept nutrient pockets that my plant's roots still had access to. I live on the east coast and I hear the Fox Farm produced over here is very shitty compared to the same Fox Farm produced on the west coast.

Has anyone ever tried Roots Organic soil? I am thinking of switching to it.

i've been using Advanced Nutrients for years without any troubles. But i've heard that others have used AN's Final Phase to flush things out without any trouble. Sometimes there are some chemicals that can stick in a plant, so that's why i've been organic for a while...

never tried Roots...have to admit

sure there wasn't anything else strange in the setup by accident?

I'd say that right there is probably part of the problem.

Advanced Nutrients pH/PPM Perfect thing hasn't come out yet, which means you should've been checking pH and ppm all along. There's no telling what might've cause the build up without any monitoring.

i would have to agree with aeroman. You need to check that all the time, but i had the same problem, what i did was after every other feeding i watered with straight h20 and that did the trick. My problem was the nutes were building up and on my last week i couldn't flush properly, i've seen a big difference by doing this.

Oh yeah, anytime you're growing in soil you gotta alternate feedings with watering. Some people do 2 watering between feedings or get something fancy like 1 feed - 1 water - 1 feed - 2 water - repeat.

Hydroponic nutes definitely work fine in soil, but only if you allow for the difference soil makes. If you use them the same as you would in hydroponics you're not gonna like the results.

Higher Ed, did you feed every watering? If so that's definitely where things went wrong.
