Huh? Why do finishers like bud candy, carbo load, and the like have molasses in them then? Why do experienced growers flush with molasses at the end? Do you have proof for this claim? Not trying to be a dick bit im using nothing but molasses last two weeks of flower and everything i read and learned leads me to believe it is not something that will decrease smell or taste...the myth about what it does is actually the exact opposite.....?
first of all its not "flushing" if ur using molasses, flushing is with water only. flushing outdoors when u have organic matter in your soil is pointless anyways, but thats a whole other debate. those "finishers" u speak of are a waste of money, if u have purchased any urself i suggest u get ur money back. but the myth about wat it does is exactly that, a myth. i think people assume because ur adding a sugar to ur soil that it will somehow bring out the "sweetness" of ur plant, i disagree. it may help pack on some more weight because it helps make more nutrients available to ur plants. ive ran plants with molasses and without and there was no pattern. some buds grown without were better than some grown with and visa versa. start with some good genetics and u wont have to worry about ur bud smellin good. but to answer ur question as to whether i have any proof for this claim, the answer is no, not any more than the people who claim it adds to flavor and smell. my uncle is an old school grower, he has some degree in botany or watever, owns a landscaping business, been growin for 30+ years... basically he knows his shit. hes been growing bud longer than ive been alive and hes the one who first told me that, and ive heard it again since. he said too much molasses will lockup nutrients and can even kill ur plants. he swears by molasses for veg and the beginning of bloom but he never uses it when the plants are further than one month into flower. he says using a smaller dosage each time is better. i use a 1/2tbsp per gallon as opposed to some people who use upwards of 2tbsp. but i tend to take his word on things, 99% of the time hes right.
