Activated Carbon Filter.

I seen a How to make a carbon filter using two metal pencil holders. The holes are very small. One pencil holder is bigger then the other used a sock instead of a stocking.
Has anyone ever seen this post. I don't remember what site it was but If someone could please give me the link or tell me how to do it.
