Now that I know what poison ivy looks like, and now that it's in full bloom, I realize my main grow spot of 5 plants tightly together is infested with poison ivy..

Right in the middle of my bud patch, and around the edges theres poison ivy shooting up..

What should I do? Should I just trim the poison ivy and toss it aside as I see it come up? It will continue to grow back up every couple weeks wont it??

Sucks because I'm HIGHLY alergic, and the last thing I want is my bud to become infected.. But this small plot is my BEST grow spot!

Damn man, that's rough. I can't imagine smoking poison ivy juice.

I'd get a box of tyvek sleeves and heavy rubber gloves and whack the shit out of it once a week or so if possible. Just keep that shit from touching your colas.

Also, are you 110% sure it's poison ivy? You wouldn't believe how many people tell me my large patch of virginia creeper is poison ivy.

ya I'm 110% sure its ivy

I got ivy at the beginning of this year, the day after I tilled up this spot.. And now I'm sure this is where I got it

And since I got it, I've spent a lot of time researching what it looks like, and its easy to spot right now, since the younger parts of the plant are redish, and the big mature leaves are green :(

I just wasn't sure if the ivy roots would affect the pot. I'd have no problem cutting down the ivy before it got much over 6-8" tall

Wow that is shitty. Maybe after you make your initial assault, you could lay down a fabric weed barrier....I am so allergic I would walk away.

"Virginia Creeper"....memories of growing up in the Midwest and boy scout camp.

Truly sorry for your predicament:cry:

haha, yo meatwad whats up!

thats funny man, i just got back from one of my spots and now i see poison ivy everywhere and its def where i got it from! i can now tell what it looks like be the redish new growth, thanks for the tip. ive also spotted some P oak and i grabbed a P sumac tree yesterday! ive been able to keep it off me by washing with mud and stream water before i leave. then when i get home i rinse with cold water and wipe myself down with rubbing alcohol on a rag. also wash my clothes and partially clean my boots off. havent seen any more show up on me yet!

oh yeah if you do manage to get it again try ZANFEL you can get it at rite-aid cvs its $40 bucks and worth every penny. about 10 seconds after i put it on i couldnt feel a thing, it was fuckin great, i was rubbin it in good too and it felt like i was just washIN like i do everyday. one application last me like 20hrs of complete relief, a few more applications and it is all dried up and dead now, i got rid of it in 8 days !!! UNBLIEVABLE STUFF! im usually have it for 3-4 weeks!

the spot that i went too today i am no longer using because of the ivy everywhere, im not too worried about gettin it again but it makes my eyes itchy and swollen just bein near it, fuck that! i would suggest you do the same, think about how much of a pain in tha ass itll be all summertryin to avoid the ivy. whatever you do dont go tearin it up or cuttin it, inside the plants is where the uruishoil is the most potent, ive read that even the roots can give you a rash! i also read that itll just keep comin back after you pull it up, its a very resilliant plant. id ditch that spot!maybe go back around harvest time and see if theres any bud? sorry to hear about it man, best of luck to the rest of your grow!

ps. iread that it only gets stronger over the summer, and scientist say it has been getting more potent over time?

I second the zanafel stuff. I also can feel it when I get near it. I had it next to my house where I kept my boat (back in about'90) and nothing would get rid of it. Diesel and kerosene, almost kill it, but of course that is not an option.

I was sent to military school (with the Finklestein shit kids) when I was a teen and the woods behind the campus were about as close to jungle as you could get...at least for Missouri....of course poison ivy was everywhere (and sumac...out west it is mainly oak...much weaker). I have seen it grow into what looks like ~6' sapplings, it climbed the trees in vines 1" in diameter which in winter are brown yet still will swell your eyes shut until the steroid shot...ouch!
