Accidentally ran a 600w bulb on a 1000w ballast!!! did i hurt the ballast?

I let a friend use my light and I forgot that he put in a 600w bulb. When I got it back I accidentally ran the 600w bulb in my 1000w ballast for 6 hours. The bulb didnt blow but could it have hurt my ballast?

There are various kinds of LED tubes both in domestic and international markets. The led tube is more and more popular among consumers. Building led light tube can be a cost-effective solution of lighting the home. Although you can find it easily both at home and abroad, you can make it by yourself as long as you have the required tools. How to make the led light tube? Follow me to get more detailed information. First of all, prepare the things you will need, like PVC pipe, soldering iron, solder wire, 150 white led lights, diodes, 3100 ohms resistors, 1 meter resistor 1/4w, 1 105/400 v ,14/36 connective wire ,drill and so forth. Second, cut the PVC pipe you at hand in half along its length. Then ensure the holes drilled across the entire length of the PVC pipe at equal intervals and large enough to accommodate the led lights. Then, place all of the led lights into the holes and firmly affix them. Ensure that the polarity of the LEDs all have the same orientation. Now out all of your LED leads so that they touch one another as this is required to create the requisite lighting effect. The next, solder three separate series of 50 LED lights by soldering their joints. Third, each series of LED lights must have the given resistor of 470 ohms. Now you must join your three series of LED lights together in a parallel fashion by connecting their positive and negative leads together. You should join the four diodes together to create a bridge configuration rectifier and then connect the right points to the LED lights. Now plug it into test that is working as desired. Follow the above steps if you want to make your DIY LED tube. Frankly speaking, we have great reputation among consumers both at home and abroad. We are one of the leading manufacturers of LED tube and led downlight. We provide all products with high quality and competitive price. op

as said above you will be fine, a 400w running on a 600w will over time shorten the bulb life, compared to normal and mr cervantes says it will fuck up the power supply or summin.....but for only 6 hrs id say your golden!!

You didn't damage the ballast. You damage the bulb.
Possible fire or explosion on start up from the increased voltage to fire the bulb.
You don't want to use bulbs under rated for the power supply.
If your gonna do that. Then take a hot bath with this tonight.

Thanks Lemon king. I figured the bulb would be toast. I just hope I didnt mess up the ballast. I knew I should have double checked before I fired her up.
