My auto NL is 74 days from seed, I was planning on letter her run a few more days, but I broke the main stem tonight while moving her so I decided to go ahead and cut it and let the rest go a few more days. This is my first time ever seeing bud that didn't come in a bag, how did I do trimming her. Also, i tossed her on the scale and this piece weighed out at 1.85oz. I know a lot of that is the stem, but is a quarter or more of bud possible after drying from this piece? Hope I didn't mess it up, I'm excited and a bit nervous! Thanks!

Looks pretty good for a first time. 1/4 or more is definitely possible from it I get results higher than that for most autos. Trim job looks good, make sure to post the smell and taste during flower and after drying. I would love to read a smoke report.

Thanks! That's just the main stem, there's probably about twice as much still on the plant. She's a had a subtle dank smell during flower with a hint of pine to it. It really smalls good if you get up close.

What! That is fantastic, a preview smoke. Do you have a handheld microscope to view the trichomes? That way you could see how developed the trichomes are and gauge when to harvest the rest. What grow setup did you use?

Thanks! This was grown in a cabinet under CFLs in a soil mix that was about 45% generic dollar store potting soil,(no nutes), 45% Perlite and 10% MG potting mix, also, I used crappy MG ferts. Seed was a Nirvana Northern Lights auto flower. Looking through a jeweler's loupe, the trichs were starting to cloud up, so, I'm thinking she's a bit early, but damn she smells good. I'm going to let the rest of the plant run a few more days until I see a bit of amber. Also, in the same grow I have a Barney's Pineapple Express auto that is getting damn close.

Nice work with the resources you had. Have you ever had bud that was all amber trichomes? Does the Barney's Farm Pineapple Express live up to its name? I have only grown the G-13 Seeds Pineapple Express Auto and it didn't yield much at all, but it's smoke was so primo and it smelled just like pineapples.

Nice plant good trim job. I had a bad experience with PE from barneys farm. Never will I try that strain again, I have a few photogenic plants that are going to be chopped up tonight. Texada timewarp x Northern Lights, Lemon Chunk, NorthernSkunk and Skunkberry. A little bit of work for me tonight lots of trimming and hangin. Love this part, Generally when you weigh a wet plant subtract about 2/3 of that to figure out the final weight. Looking really tasty though. Good job

What was your bad experience with the Barney's Farm PE? I would just like a heads up so that I don't waste my time with it.

Thanks for the compliment. No experience with an all amber. The branch I trimmed off the Northern Lights is the first bud I've ever harvested in my life. I'm still sitting on a lot of clear trichs on my PE, but I can tell you that she smells delicious. She's got that strong weed smell, but it's mixed in with some fruity citrus smell. I love the way she smells. Can't wait for her to be ready. One thing, these two ladies, started smelling about 2 1/2-3 weeks and it's always been a good weed scent, they've not smelled like hay or grass at all.

Of course, now that I say that, I just took a whiff of the stem that is hanging and it smells like grass. It was dank as hell last night when I was trimming it, but less than 24 hours later, hanging in a cardboard box, it has a grassy smell. Is that normal?

I'm curious as to your bad experience too. Was it with growing them, or with the smoke?

How much drier is it now than when you started it? If it dries too fast it can leave it smelling grassy. However once you start to cure it the smell can build up. I have had plants dry too quickly and the smell comes back after curing for a while.

Nice job 1st up new24. Trims good. You have at least half an oz dry there mate, more like 2/3rds. Most pot gets a hay or grass smell as it starts to dry, don't worry you'll get the nice smell back & it'll only get better as you cure. A good 1st grow is usually all most need to become dedicated growers. Don't fall into the trap of thinking you can improve yield in your next grow by changing things too much. You'd be surprised how many who have a successful 1st grow & then completely stuff up the next few because they started using additives [miracle this & f@cking wonder that] without knowing why, applying techniques without understanding why. Stick to what you've done, learn as you go, experiment with leftovers before you commit the entire crop, learn what nutes do & when you need what, learn what deficiencies do to the plant & how to recognise in the leaves, listen only to those who've actually successfully grown [with good bud to prove it haha] & take their advice with a grain of salt if it contradicts what you know to be true. Don't get greedy. I'm always grateful for an oz a plant [which happened to last crop of 4 Whiterhino. They barely grew an inch after turning. I didn't veg long enough. Beautiful smoke though :)] & give thanks to the bud gods. Anything more is a bonus. The more you grow the better you'll be & the better the herb. We're lucky we've got some good growers here on Riu, I've learnt a bit in the short time I've been here. Now I'm learning how to grow decent seed after growing on & off for twenty years. We only stop learning when we think we know everything.
You should be quietly pleased with yourself, you've done well.

Ok I grew out two pineapple Express's auto's from Barney's Farm and both did autoflower for me at day 24 or so but plant 1 started forming buds but I could almost see threw them. The second did not bud up at all, Bushy only. Both did have a cool smell and coverd with trichs but tasted terrible even after a good flush and cure. I was expecting more from a company that has been a top breeder in Europe for many years and figured that they had stable genetics. I had a couple of Sweet seeds auto's in the same cab, same soil and nutes and same light regiment. They turn out fantastic and if I did not have them caramels growin I would have been screwed for meds for two or so months. Cant say anything about Barneys other strains but after that disaster I will not risk my money on strains that are not put through a proper quality check. That was my Pineapple Express auto experience wish that it had been better. Sounds really tasty. Got Anubis auto, Sour 60, Cream Mandarin auto, NorhternSkunk reg, SkunkBerry reg, Texada Timewarp x Northern lights Reg plants that are bieng harvested tonight. Oh yaa.

I did the same shit to a blue mystic last night; I feel like an idiot. I snapped one stem off the main stem; harvested it (probably 3 weeks early so wth but its still decent medicine) and then I snapped the damn main stem itself, but it's still partially connected. So I wrapped a cannabis leaf around it, held it in a loop around the broken area just for general protection; and a whole lot of support; It looks pretty good as of tonight; keep on truckin!

Your buds look real good tho man; certainly harvested within an acceptable window of time! I'm not sure on weight..... 14g I'll guess.

I can relate with another Barney's Farm autoflower, the Little Cheese. I grew a 5 pack and all of them had whispy buds and didn't have too much resin/trichomes. Plus the smell wasn't too great, it gave me a buzz but all in all, I wouldn't try it again. Now the Malana Bomb from them is amazing.

Wow, hate to hear you had such shitty turn at the PE. I only have one growing, will cut it tomorrow night. I have 2 more seeds for it that I haven't planted yet. Fortunately, I have a few decent buds on it that are pretty dense. So I'm hoping my smoke will turn out better than yours did. Maybe I got lucky on my order. I'll keep ya update. Have fun with tonights harvest!
