Ac help for 70 sq ft room.

Would a 6000 btu window unit be suffice for a 70 sq ft room? Planned on doing a mini aplit, but ran across this and can practically have it. Any input is appreciated.

Depends on how many lights you run and whether or not youre air cooling them.

6000 btu would have to work hard to keep that 70 sq ft cool if it had 2 x 1000w hids air cooled. I know. Ive tried. So now Im going to use a 10k btu for a 45 sq ft space with two air cooled 1000s.

Not true. I had 4 air cooled 1000 w hps in a 8x10 room and cooled everything with a 6000 btu window ac. Worked just fine in 100 degree days. What really needs to be done is not daisy chain the hood ventilation. If fresh air goes into each light and exhaust seperatly then you avoid pushing heated air from one hood to the next creating more heat to each hood there after. If you have your hood ventilation set up properly then you won't need as much ac. Ventilation parts are cheap. Use hard pipe when you can, T's, 90's and as little flex as possible. Also insulated flex and hard pipe keep more stable temps and reduce condensation on the ventilation indoors. Most folks don't have the option of adding a 240v circuit to accommodate the needs of bigger ac units. Usually above 15,000 btu and you need a dedicated 15-20 amp 240v to run the unit. Most people only have access to 15 amp 110v and maybe a 20 amp 110 circuit available in there homes.

This is 4 lights. Two banks. In this particular situation only two lights are daisy chained. Hard pipe used anywhere I could. Adding 90's and T's help reduce air flow like hard pipe. I use a 10" fan in the attic and a 10" intake that splits to 8" ducting. Hoods are 8". Also when I boarded the window I installed insulation to reduce heat transfer on that wall. Ac barely runs.

Ceiling height plays a big part in cooling as well. And the higher you can mount the ac the better it will run. Most of the commercial grows I've seen have 12+ feet in ceiling height. Hot air rises and that's where the ac needs to be to be the most effective.

I didn't mean reduce airflow but rather increase it.
And the ac will condition the air more efficiently and not barley runs.
I was a lil medicated on that post.

It is all about how you cool the lights. Mine pair of 1000s were daisy chained. Wont be next time. But still going with 10k btu. Wont run as often....
