About to start a indoor grow need some advice (w/ pictures of setup)

hey i'm new to growing indoors and was going to see if anyone could give me some tips. I build a box with a lock that fits very nicely in my closet. What reflective material should I put in there? I can't have it smelling up my room so I need a way of filtering it out. I have about $3,000 put away for anything I might need so give me a list of what I should buy, seeds, filters, lights, ect. I'm not going to have 20ft weed plants growing in that box I'm going for the smaller ones. Any advice helps...once again i'm completly new at this.

If you're planning to harvest from that box, it's not tall enough. You can start flowering while the new plant is any height. But it continues to grow up while flowering. You can LST or SOG. Personally, I wouldn't use it. Try a U-Haul wardrobe box.

Growing in that tiny box for ur first time? I don't think it's gonna work out. How big is that box? U gotta remember, no matter the size of the plant ur trying to grow, that ur gonna have to fit lights in there too, at the very least a thermometer as well... air vents and inline fans for circulation mean holes and ducting as well... Not that it couldn't be done, but my advice would be get a bigger area/box for ur first grow, and do as much homework on growing as possible BEFORE even starting.

set the box up so its tall ways up and paint the inside white or.........since you have 3000 bucks get a grow tent and a sweet ass light thats mh/hps convertable and some good genetics with some fox farms ocean forest soil and either fox farm nutes or advanced nutes

I could flip that box the other way, would that work? I don't wanna buy a tent because people would probably notice me growing something in there lol

well i mean id know something was up if i saw a box was flipped up on its end with wires running into it so either way. The tent would just give you more room to work with and less work to do because your gonna have to fix the box to hang a light, have a hole for wires and an exhaust fan if you want one and then you gotta paint it which isnt the biggest deal but its up to you, the box looks like it would work for one good sized plant or you could get like 5 or 6 and lollipop them

If you have 3K to burn then try this.. this whole setup cost me $500

It includes 30 spaces for clones and veg grow (must be LST) that is removeble for tall plants ( only if needed)

HO T5 set up ( lights can be up to 1" away from the plants)
Carbon filter ( no smell in my box..lol)
inline fan ( moves 100 cf
Complete seal around the box so no light leak or air leaks.
Auto tune (thermometer and Hydrometer to control the intake of cool air )
Timers for my lights
And a set of wheels for the whole thing if i would like to move it.. and yes sometimes you will want to move it.

Check it out and let me know if you would like and ideas.

Well im living with a few friends and I dont really want them to find out....so whats a better alternative to a tent?

That's a nice setup. Does it take up a lot of room? I'm trying to keep this a sneaky operation so, I need something small and unnoticeable.

The box it 70" tall 23" deep and 68" wide.. its not small.. but eveyone thinks its a closet.. lol. I have a spare room that i keep it in with a bunch of storage stuff. It really looks just like a moveble closet.

If your pessed for space... you can make that box work.. but i must tell you... it will be a crap load of work...also, you need good ventilation and heat control.

How many plants are you trying to run? And what kinda seed?

I'm not sure what kind of seeds I should get...or the quantity to grow in there. Defiantly something that isn't very tall tho lol. What would you recommend?

no offence but if u have to hide it from people your living with, don't grow. they will find out. the plants will stink and fans make noise. i suggest you take some of the 3 grand, get your own place and with the money left, buy equipment. don't grow without them knowing. if you get caught by the po po. they get in trouble too.

absolutely, and well put. here is just what you'll need for a secret set up.

1. 4 cfl's to a plant +too low of a change in elect. bill.
2. 2 jet vents intake and outake inline fans to push flow outside plus they are exremely quiet.
3. as much seals as able to fit that box.
4. NYC lowrider seeds they autoflower and are short .
5. pH meter, PPM meter, and a resivior w/ pumps to water and mist your plant cause you opening the box undercover is a no no and you'll find that out on your own if you do.

including soil and ferts your looking at 1000 dollars easy. :)

Cannibal has a good point. Just use your head. I have a large house and no one to poke around..

If and when you do grow.. white rhino is nice.. dose not get crazy tall
Some white widow strands are nice.
Most indicas will grow shorter and faster... but it all depends on your bucket size.. the way you're growing.. how much streach you will get... best way it to start LST early and you'll be fine if you are worried about height.

If you have roomies that you are trying to hide your grow from, personally I wouldn't do it. No matter what they will figure it out. If you can do a gorilla grow outside away from your appartment and roomies would be the way to go. Or just dont grow just yet. Secrecy is TOP PRIORITY with growing MJ. Just my nickles worth.
