Strongly suggest a MH bulb to veg with instead of HPS. Order the HPS too to flower with but MH especially in a tent with limited growth area.

I know it says dual spectrum but I would order a regular HPS for flowering and a MH to veg with. Bag that dual spectrum.

Edit: Would I still go with a 400w MH lamp, or go lower?

The more watts the more pot. I would go 400.

Sounds like you'v got everything you need.
I'd defiantly use MH bulbs for veg.

So all the gear is here and set up. In the end I couldn't afford Jack Herer seeds (I wanted Sensi Seeds, the originals, but they're about £120 for a 10-pack - I can't risk that much money on seeds for my first grow), so I got Barney's Farm LSD. I've got 3 of the seeds germinating at the moment and have got the MH lamp and ventilation system running to monitor the temperature in the tent etc. It seems to be running at about 82 degrees fahrenheit, so I may need to get a small fan inside to cool it slightly when I put the sprouting seed in there I guess. Once I reach that point I will start a grow journal with pics.

Ph/TDS/EC/ppm Meter. I recommend Hanna. Absolutely need to know pH and ppm or TDS/EC. RO Water purification system. Know exactly what youre putting in and whats coming out.

The Future nailed it there. Made the mistake myself starting out. Ph/ec meters are a must, also as mentioned earlier ditch the dual spec and get the full red spec for flowering. Happy growing!

Keep it that way, most people dont know seedlings like a little warmer environment when it just sprouted, just like a baby does. Dont let it go over 85, 79 degrees is perfect for seedlings. I've got a whole seed stock including LSD, that one is my second fave good luck on the grow

Stick with the same wattage as your ballast. Always. Order the 400w mh and hps bulb. I recommend ordering the mh and hps bulb too. You will be greatly happy you did so.

Personally I veg with t5 and get great results including tight internode spacing. I have heard 250w hps are also good for vegging.

That's sounds ok,as long as its the right light spectrum for vegging. I vegg from seed using t5, 18/6 light cycle. A few days before flower I put 4 girls under 1 600w dual spec hps to harden them off. Then flip them into flower with the 4 girls under 2x 600w red spec hps for the flowering stage
