A whole lot of Hempy and a whole lot of watts

Tittle pretty much says it all. Twenty 6 foot plants in 20 gallon hempys. 18,000 watts.

DO not walk into this room without sunglasses on. WHen you lay down at night it will feel like someone has ground sand into your eyes. :)

Back when i was a welder, we called that "flash burn". I bet even with sun glasses that room is bright!

Btw, that setup is badd ass man!

Yeah. I have a pair of those grow room glasses..the $20 ones. They work great and my eyes don't hurt afterwards. Rule number one for bare bulb. If your bald, where a baseball hat!

We just flipped that crop. First run in that room. The room is entirely underground with a garage above us. Pretty excited to see how much we pull.

Awesome!, Being underground helps with cooling cost!

It's underground with r42 worth of concrete and foam but when the lights turn on it takes about, mmm, 5 minutes, before the fans kick on.

A total of four 12" max can fans. Sounds like we are growing weed in an airplane hanger.
Time to build some silencers :(

That is sick...If you want a tan you got the room.LOL. I would love to see the total number of weight in there. Ill keep up with this thread.

Are they automatically watered, and how often?

In another thread you mention 85/15 perlite/coco mix... what made you go with that instead of a standard 3:1 perlite/vermiculite or coco with perlite res?

I just set up coco hempys with botanicare pbp + lineup, and 2 mh/hps vert lamps.

Water with a pump and hose right now. My partner had used the perlite coco and done VERY well

I used to run pbp with ebb and flow and DWC. Good nutes but I got better results with DM in hydro. We are running heavy 16 and bennies for this run.

Thanks for stopping in

Hey nice to see you started a thread after all. Seems a bit like How far along are they and when can we expect to see the first bud shots? :D

LOL legallyflying - puts my 6 hempy buckets under two 150w lights into perspective!!

What kind of lights are those, btw?

Those plants vegged for about 6 weeks I believe. Maybe 8, honestly can't remember

We did train them, which basically consisted of topping them and removing most of the lower branches. We need to put some cages around them pretty soon actually. Otherwise we will need about 100+ yo yos to hold up the buds.

The plants look a little beat up because we had to transport them to this room. If you ever tried to love 6' plants, in a tarp covered trailer, then lower them down a hatch...well the get a little disheveled.

Those bulbs are all 1k hortilux. The outside lights are just econo wings or utra suns or something or another. A 6 pack of them was $150 at horticulture source. The rest are just lamp sockets and cords..and we used somewhere around 25 10' lamp extensions.

Buds pictures probably in a couple weeks. We flipped last week but we did hot them with paclobutryzol the week before to stop vert growth so they should bud up pretty quickly.

Thinking 25lbs hoping for 30

Nice to see someone else run dutch masters in hydro. What strain(s) are your running?

How large is the space? If that's the roughly 18x12' that yield you are hoping for sound optimal, but, that's very doable with just 12K watt in the same space, especially for someone with your experience.

My honesty seems to get confused with being a dick lately, so let me start by saying awesome trees you got there, you got a shit load of helpful posts at RIU, but indulge me for a minute and Google "Images" search for "hennepkwekerij" (results will be mostly pics of raided grows grooms from commercial growers / coffeeshop suppliers, ironically referred to by the cops and press as "hemp grows"). The advantage of having multiple rows of lights is being able to use the overlap, the area that would normally fall outside the optimal surface area. As I mentioned in another thread, one of the few things - perhaps the only - dutch growers 'do' excel in is using available space and electricity efficiently (small country, compact houses and cities and an advanced power grid that makes it relatively easy to track down large growers forced us for decades to do so, almost evolution...). If you'd turn that space into a dutch grow room and apply your knowledge and skills in it... you could easily save 4-6K watt.

I was just using a conservative estimate that's all. The room is 27 x 27 and we are using roughly half of it. I thought about doing the row thing but we are limited on the number of plants we can have. Right now that number is 18. We are using the "standard" vert pattern of bulbs and plants which looks like:

X O X O X O X O X
O X O X O X O X O
X O X O X O X O X
O X O X O X O X O

The x's are plants the o are lights. So most of the plants are getting basked in light from four bulbs

Oh I see. That sure puts a limit on your options. (limit here is 0, hence the abundance of pics I suggested earlier.) An alternative would be to cover 5x5' per plant per light by canopy control but that would obviously be a lot more work. I look forward to see it fully flowering and at harvest time.

The estimate does seem a quite conservative for the space, lights and those huge plants (I'm thinking more like 42-44). Otherwise I miss the benefit of vert growing. I admit, I'm skeptic about vert growing all together. When I see a bulb I see a light pattern and in your setup much of it is going towards the ceiling. Some disc shaped, slightly coned, DIY reflector hoods on those hood-less very bulbs could make a huge diff. Same for some reflective foil on the sides (you could reflect an amount relatively equal to an 250watt lamp, per 1kW bulb on the sides, compared to those white walls with some cheap alu foil).
