a wee bit deficient?

Hello all, I was just wondering if this little plant is showing early signs of cal/mag deficiencies? I can't really come across an answer that relates to this. I have epsom salt and dolomite lime and just wanted to make sure that's what this is before doing anything.

Strain: Reserva Privada Kandy Kush
Haven't been fed yet, in Miracle gro soil.
About 29 days old, had a rough start so it's smaller then planned

I went and transplanted it into her final pot, she had a lot of roots growing out the drainage holes. I mixed a small amount of dolomite lime into the soil, about 1/2 tbs per gallon of soil mixed in. Hopefully she likes her new home

IME, 29 days is more than fine to start feeding in MG+ MG Perlite (My mix)
This one I started last year at 21 days when I t-planted from the Solo cup, my first try under CFL's, in MG Moisture Control with about 40% MG Perlite.View attachment 2935123

alrighty thanks guys, I guess I'm just trippin. First grow in a while, feels like the first time again though, feeling impatient and trippin over the smallest spots.

They look fine! Don't obsess over every little (and in this case I do mean LITTLE) brown spot or freckle. You'll end up "loving" your plants to death.

Well fellas, the spots are getting/have gotten much bigger... What do you guys think :(?

GMZ,
Just curious...is that the MG organic or the MG with time-release nutrients added?

It's miracle gro moisture control, yeah it does use that time released shit. The only reason I'm using it because I tried using something different and just completely flopped so I went back to what has worked for me in the past which is this :p

MZ,
You mentioned earlier that they had a rough start. and if they were started in that soil...that may have been the reason. Young plants need lighter nutrient feeding which you can't do in nute-added soil.

It's been my experience that plants that start out great in a nice seedling mix and then are given appropriate feedings as they grow...end up being nice good yielding adults.

Whereas plants that have multiple problems and stalls and whatnot...rarely recover to perform perfectly. I know...there are exceptions, but as a general rule...keep things on track from the getgo.

So it might be best to start plants in a different, milder soil.

And possibly...not saying for sure since I'm not there with the plant. But maybe your soil is a little toxified from the time release nutrients which can block uptake of nutrients in general.

So be careful with over-watering, do not flush, add the calmag as Provolone suggested and make sure plant goes through a proper wet dry cycle. Your plant survived it's rough start and should do ok. But maybe make some changes in the future. Sorry for the rant...

Well I started it in vigoro potting soil, which they just weren't growing at all in... They looked 2 days old for about 1-2 weeks. Then I finally got the same soil I've always used and dug em up and stuck em in smaller pots with this soil. The plan was to just trash them because of their size and age, but when it came down to it I just couldn't do it, I kept thinking about what they could be and ended up trying to save them. I'll try to keep the watering to a minimum

Would Dolomite Lime work just as well as cal/mag? I know it won't be as fast, but I already got a bunch of dolomite lime and was wondering if it would work the same way, just take longer to work. I read to sprinkle 2tbs per gallon of medium as a top dressing, so 6 tbs of dolomite lime on the surface of my 3 gallon pots? Sounds like quite a bit to me, does anyone know if it would be toxic?

I just ordered a quart of cal/mag anyway, hopefully it will help this baby out.

Work as much of the dolomite as you can down as far into the soil as far as you can without disturbing the root area, In fact, if you could mix up a batch of soil with the dolomite in it I'd prolly transplant them into the remixed soil. Another option would be to get as many egg shells as you can get hold of. Bake 'em until they just start to brown and jam them into a food processor and puree the hell out of them until they get as close to talcum powder as you can get them, then top dress that and water it in. The finer particluates will travel much further into he soil as you water it, Water the eggshells in with a weak Epson salts solution.
There is nothing inherently wrong with MG soils, just that they really are too hot for seedlings. All Scotts/Peters products are aimed at domestically cultivate crops and ornamentals, and cannabis is still a "weed". A domestic cultivar of a plant is used to higher doses of fertilizers, and a "weed" is used to making do with whatever nutrition it can glean from whatever hostile environment it find itself growing in. Cannabis just doesn't have the nutrient requirements of a domesticated plant (MY observations, not based on any real studies) so what we would normally think of as OK would kill off cannabis. That's why most fuck up with MG by following the directions. MG has to be used at 1/4 strength and work your way up to no more than half strength.

I fed her with 5ml to the gallon of cal/mag, and now these spots are showing up. I was thinking it was burns from water being left on the leaves but it started spreading, and the tip looks a little nute burnt to me. Any ideas?

haha damn man, sucks you had a bad experience with MGMC. It's been my choice of cheap soil since I started . I've never really had major problems with it, I've started seeds in it with no problems. I might try a more pricey soil next time around to see what's really up
