On Friday a tornado came through. It hit my old neighbourhood about 1/2 mile away. Then it swerved around this townhouse community and tore up a bunch of hydro poles, building with many windows blown out and flipped cars. That was another 1/2 mile past us, so we really caught a lucky break. Power was out from around 6PM Friday until about 8PM Sunday. My plants are sitting pretty like nothing ever happened. Thankfully I had just watered so all I had to do was open the tents to keep the humidity in check.
Now the crazy thing is we had no power but everyone in our community pulled together to help one another. Both my next door neighbour and us took turns cooking meals on the BBQ. The neighbour across had a generator running in his back yard so people could charge their devices. He also had an old wood stove with an open hearth to cook or heat water as needed. He even carted over my coffee machine and grinder so I did not have to go a single day without coffee. Whew.
Check out the weather network for some wild pics and video on the damage done. We are OK.
And me sitting on my deck during the hurricane, smoking joints, watching small pieces of the 80ft maple tree in my backyard trying to pelt me. Missed again.
