So. I know this has been discussed over and over but I'm still thinking about setting up a grow tent in my attic and running it at least most the year. I love in Socal and in the hot days my attic is at least 5-8 degrees warmer than outside. I mean it can easily reach upwards of 105 in there during august-October. This may be a window of time I can't operate.
My house has central AC and stays pretty cool even on the hottest days. We let it get about 75-76 conservatively on those days obviously the attic doesn't get AC as that is a huge waste of power for an otherwise unusable space.
I was planning on using a 5x5 or 6x6 grow tent.
I planned to use a 6 inch inline filter attached to a carbon filter blown from a 600w hood for lighting. This hot air will be vented out the top of my roof.
I was going to hook up a 6 inch vent tube to the bottom of the tent sucking cool air from the inside of the house which will be right around 75.
My question is. Assuming a mylar lined grow tent how insulated are they? Would a 500 CFM fan suck enough of my cool house air through the tent to keep the tent in appropriate temperature levels?
I know I can do AC but... If I run the lights only at night and suck in cool air from the house. Can I get by without AC as long as I aggressively circulate cool air through the tent despite the attic getting in the 90's plus?
