A Sad day...

So, i was woke up this morning at around 3am from pounding on my door. It was my aunt tellin' me my mom had a stroke last night at around 1am.:-(
Does anyone here know anything about strokes? effects? Im a mess :sad: today, im about to head out to the hospital to spend the day with her, or how ever long i need to. Any support or advise would be greatly appreciated. Peace RIU, pray for my mom or at least have a toke for her she's a 70's child...

best wishes and a fatty packed i dont know anything about strokes but whenever im visiting someone in the hospital i just try to smile and be positive and pretend im happy to be there

Man you have my condolences & prayers. My mom had a few strokes in a ten year period never flowed the docs advice ended up having a massive one last summer that ended her life. So I know how you feel if she is still with it talk to her and let her know that you care about her well being and if she is not coherent tell her anyway she will hear you. Then you have to look at her qulity of life if she had a massive one it may not be worth trying to save her just let go and be rest assured that she will be in a better place. Life can be a bitch sometimes just put your faith in the powers that be and be thankfull you had this person in your life for the time that you did. And again sorry man!

sorry to hear that four20Mike,,some strokes can be deadly,,and some are not,,we can only wait ,,best wishes from mine to yours,,and hopes of a full recovery

that's rough bro, hopefully things will go as well as possible. depending on how bad a stroke it was, she could well make a full recovery.

That is a very painful thing to experience. My father had a stroke a few years ago, and the doctors said if he was older he probably wouldnt have made it. After his stroke he lost weight, started eating healthier and took his medicine. The best advice is for her to listen to to doctors so it doesnt happen again. Best wishes for you and your mother.

My condolences, buddy.

My granddad had a stroke about 2 years ago, he still can't walk without help and needs physiotherapy. You have to be very supportive towards people who get strokes or else they just rot in misery. It's long hard road back to being normal, that only some good ol' loving will fix.

You're not alone.

There are a lot of variables when it comes to strokes the most important of which is how long it took the person to receive emergency care. Some people make full recoveries and some people are in bad shape for the rest of their lives. Your mom is going to need some strong emotional support in the months to come and it will be a big factor in her recovery.

I hope she's ok and I hope your ok.

Well, from what the doc told me she had a "mild-stroke" whatever the fuck that means... She can talk, so she's still articulated but she can not see outta her left eye or walk on her own and she is kinda confused.......?????? so, i plan on moving back with her to take care of her.
thank you guys, y'all have some good info and support... i just hope all goes well.

I'm glad things aren't worse hey.
My neice was 35 when one night she said she didn't feel well and went to take a bath, she had a stroke and died in the bath, leaving a husband and two small girls behind.
